skip white engines
ivam looking at crate motors....i cant afford a pro build and work too many hours to do it myself....looked at GM crate,,,cnc motorsports..shafiroff,,blueprint and now skip white..
this guy lays out every item and model used in every item,,, every brand name item used and nothing is crappy..even his budget heads have top line bits fitted,,
has anyone bought a crate motor from them...there are thousands of good feedbacks online but i never actually contacted anyone... they seem above board.

I have not ordered a crate engine from him, but I did buy his "Guaranteed Made in USA Delphi Hydraulic lifters". NOT. They were GARBAGE. The lifters were made incorrectly. Wiped out my new camshaft. If I buy anything from him in the future, it will only be items such as gaskets or name brand parts.
There are some great engine/short & long blocks at Competition Products.

Thanks for the link mate and i am not going to 1/2 do this as its a big deal for me and a lot of money that needs to be well spent.
These guys in your link are using real good parts and you can upgrade for not much more to another crank or rod brand.. thanks for the link and as i am in Australia an engine here will cost me $5,000, to $7,000 more than the builders over there for the same engine.
reason being EVERYTHING is imported from where its sold America,, and the cost of living here is very high with an average wage of an engine shop being over $1000 a week for machinists or mechanics with specialist skills. A good engine can take days to assemble but i would get an incredible motor. Wayne jones, ian McKee, KRE, Hercules engines, John Kuiper, Alan Felch, Steve Smith, or any of the touring car engine builders or sprintcar engine shops like Ivan Walker. This is where you are on a winner or an also ran. After looking around i would not evern consider a blueprint crate motor.. There too cheap and may be ok for a car your selling.

Yeh the LS is allways an option,,holden LS3,s are going for $4,000 with very little use on them,, the aussie LS has the low profile intake thats like a tunnel ram,,L76,s etc.
Exhaust would kill me as right hand drive car been converted its all custom made and an LS swap would cost 4K to get headers on it again with a new system.
The Holden factory closed last month since 1910 it was open and holden prices are going through the roof......still a few of the real high performance models with LSA,s in the dealerships are pulling big money.

i love the LSX 454 GM sells with the steel block,,its 625 HP and i can setup a carby and distributor,, sounds primative but i am up to my neck in computer cars with 4 other rides in the driveway. I want something i can relate to,,, GM do a Pro Billet front setup dizzy and a Victor Jr intake and 850 holley.

the link above is the sort of thing that would be fine but a few more cubes would be an advantage as the cars i race on wednesday night are mostly holdens and they also have LS3,s fitted standard..i got to fly the third gen flag and continue to beet them up... a 454 version of this would be the icing on the cake.
the engine below needs a computer.. thanks for contact,,have a good one mate..steve

have this wall hanger.. not going to use. you can do it with carb with just a intake swap.
just the short block is put together.. all the rest is just put in place for mock up and test fit.
427 2 pc seal sbc 11.5 to 1 with 75cc heads (AFR) 220 w/ afr stud girdles
name brand MLS gaskets (all top stuff)
H beam rods 6"
forged crank
ATI damper
NIB arp head bolts with SS outer bolts
hooker 2210 headers ceramic
Camp cams V train (every thing) mech roller pro mag rolLers/pushrods..every thing..
way to much to list..its just going to sit it its bag..in its box on a shipping pallet..
going with a Big Block 615cid
will let it go as it looks in pic.(keeping the alt) its the only thing I can use on the bbc...the pulley set will run power steering and alt.. note.. heads and intake are just sitting on the short block... you get to bolt the top end on... test fit for pics only 100% new parts block to oil pan (canton pan)8 qt Hv oil pump with canton pick up
1 off set of Lingenfelter Valve covers...the only set like this in existence! (lingenfelter Logo) trade mark..
just a thought... don't have to sell it

to be honest the rest of my car isnt as good as that motor shows,,,i would need a full paint job and interior work to get up to that detail.. thats the sort of motor i would love in a hot rod roadster or classic speed boat..

i am scared to buy something as good looking as that 427 because i would need to get my car up to show quality and i wouldnt have a street fighter anymore....an engine is going to cost me "with importing it factored in"... about $10,500... to paint the car and interior another $6500. even if i paint it myself in 2k paint.. the car would be worth $35,000 IF it hauls ***...

$1200 bucks a week is common for an engine guy or anyone doing specialty work.
i work in a factory and get $31.50 an hour and overtime is at 200% 4 days a week..
BUT a home in Sydney costs $750,000 to $1.2 mil for nothing fancy and a pair of 501 levis will set you back $100.Thats the problem and reason why i buy everything in America.
last month 48+ celcius in the shade,, 135 degrese and thats near the coast clopse to the beaches,,,we do have desert west.
There are jobs here and visit the Aussie government website and come on down,,concreters $2000 a week, plumbers, carpenters, same

That's some crazy cost of living.
To put the temperature into perspective, it was -23C when I woke up this morning. The high today is about -12C. It's actually relatively mild. The coldest I've ever had to endure was -46C or so. I feel like I'm going to die whenever it gets over 32C. 23C is comfortable.

Go work as a mechanic in the copper mines of Canada and earn $180K per year. You're wife could drive a mining truck and earn another $150K per year. They prefer women for that job because they drive easy and get more hours between repairs. Few years of that and you can put away a proper savings account.

That's only $25 per hour. The typical charge rate of shops in US is probably $65 - $100 per hour depending on location.

i work in a factory less than 1 mile from my home and make power cable for over 100k a year if i work some overtime,,,the average wage is 110k a year and its not un common to make $140,180k in this factory. The biggest mines in the world are here and money is good but living in them areas is incredibly expensive BHP is the biggest mine company on the plannet..
Its near impossible to get a job with them as they favour peasants from the 3rd world.

Re: skip white engines
the guys assembling the engines dont get $100 an hour the shop owner charges the client this amount. The machinest working gets the $1000 to $1300 a week as a basic wage point.
A pretty good shop like Pat Purcell ,, Ian Mckee, John Sydney,, KRE,, Ian Tait,, Neil Burns,, Maxwills, Alan Felch and anyone the likes of Steve Kinser uses when here racing charge $3500 to $5000" to set up" and assemble a complete engine in 30 to 40 hours.
Hercules engines here in Sydney built this camaro engine and while this is a serious motor Ned can do me something for $15,000 Aussie
Enjoy the footage and power slides at 100mph racing the best historic cars out there
Steve mason in his 69 camaro 350 GM block chev,,GM heads!
the in car footage is a hercules racing 302 engine in Steve masons car.

Re: skip white engines
Aussie Steve, regarding Reher-Morrison I have a pair Darin Morgan's ported LS3 cylinder heads on my 99 TA's 416. The best way to get in contact with Reher-Morrison is by phone in my experience. Email works good after the initial discussion. While I don't have a Reher-Morrison engine, the work on the cylinder heads was outstanding. The intake port was good for 1 inch of lift with out stalling. The $1000 of CNC port work and valve job was outstanding and capable of supporting well over 700 hp.
I flow tested the heads and they are the real deal. When checking the heads, we found a cut intake valve seal. After explaining to Reher-Morrison, they sent a couple of replacements at no charge. Fast good customer service.
Reher-Morrison also repaired the heads after my car was stolen and the engine damaged. Again Reher-Morrison did an excellent job at a fair price.
If I was in the market for a small or big block Chevy Reher-Morrison would be one of my top choices.
Bischoff Engine Service aka BES would be my other top choice. They are here in the US in Indiana. They have an excellent reputation and quality service. I would suggest calling to establish initial contact. I've talked with BES before but ended up with Reher-Morrison on the LS heads. I would happily use BES for a small or big block project
Best wishes with your project.

Re: skip white engines
the 925HP 615cid pump gas aluminum bigblock I picked out came to $23450.00 so just under 24 grand.. I supply the intake set up.
shooting for a bit more HP with this intake set up..the 925hp is with a single 1150cfm carb..and no NOS...
this intake set up with polishing came to $3600.. ball park..with what ya see in pic
I added a few thing to my eng..so it cost a bit more and saved a few bucks by getting it when they had a sale.
I went with
I send them my intake and a few other parts..they install intake, dyno tune and ship it to me all for the same price..
sending
intake set up
moroso aluminum fab oil pan
moroso billet alum oil pump
MSD distbutor
MSD plug wires
