Aftermarket Intakes & Conversions

Some aftermarket intakes and conversions. I'm not going to be a "search" **** with some of this stuff because frankly, it's hard to search for things that you don't know exist. Obviously the HSR and LT1 conversion have been popular for some time now, but the point of this index thread is to show all the options available, so YOU can decide which best fits you.

If you have links to other THREADS of good use, or other conversions or aftermarket intakes, please PM them to me and I will add to this list.

I have added "well known" flow ratings for these intakes. Keep in mind the port size of your heads before chosing an intake. Intakes such as the HSR require machine work to goto a 1206 port (AFR 195, 220). 1205 is one of the more popular "street ports", and most off the shelf street/strip heads fall into this range. (sub 280cfm, 1205 gasket)

I've tried a lot of different setups, and I will add my 2cents where possible. I'll start by saying TPI is useless, and restrictive. People who argue the "torque benefits" of TPI are either too stupid, or too broke to build something
better. A lot of people have outlined performance drawbacks to the HSR. It's probably a good choice for a 350-400 HP
naturally aspirated small block, but much more than that and it's no longer useful. Next in line, in terms of performance is the LT1 intake manifold. The shorter running design makes it a better breather, however there is no real clean way to mount it to a traditional SBC. The TPIS Miniram is probably the best performing horizontal draw manifold. Although at an expense (roughly $1200 for the manifold + fuel rails), it's quite the performer. For absolute high horsepower applications, the best choice is a singleplane EFI manifold, such as the holley commander 950, or Accel proram. However, hood clearance is an issue, and it will not fit under most hoods.

Re: Aftermarket Intakes & Conversions

Some updates.

Professional Products

Professional products makes a manifold, # 52039 Goes for about $189 on ebay.

It is 6.060" tall, comes in a 1205 port and can be ported to a 1206. It is a very high rise intake, and would be good for 400+ CID applications.

It uses fuel rail kit # 10608, which comes with a boost referenced regulator.
The kit goes for about $185 on ebay, and comes with -6an feed and return fittings.

Victor EFI

Victor EFI manifold is 5.300" tall, and the lowest profile out of the manifolds.
Price has flexed a little bit but still reasonable. The fuel rail kit does not come with a regulator, however an adjustable regulator with 3/8" in/out is about $160.

Holley / Cutler

The Holley manifold is 5.500" tall and comes stock with 1204 ports. It can be ported to a 1205 gasket. Fuel rail kit does come with a regulator. The holley is probably the most expensive of the singleplane manifolds.

PRO FLO XT

This guy is working on one in his car:
