For some odd reason it reminds me of a giant spider sitting on top of the engine. Power coat it black!

not only L98s.. but LB9s too! its impossible to adapt one, but u can always use the LSx intake concept. i already drafted a TPI intake with LSx concept. i did a crappy draft during a boring class of design and tec. i will make a clear one in A3 paper on my christmas break and post here.

Re: The so called "Turtle Ram" interest list.

Summitt Racing already has this posted on their site for delivery starting in late December, price is $750 (far cry from the $400 target posted years ago but, probably in line with other TPI options).

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

I actually like the look of this unit but would like to see someone build an engine (besides a stock L-98) to see where it runs out of gas. I really wish one of the magazines would put this in a smal block 383.

At that price you start to have other options that are well proven for making power.

well, i smell a new camaro performers article in the mix lol if its got the performance that BBK is known for than id take one, the 750 is a hit to the wallet but if it holds true to their name im down

Re: The so called "Turtle Ram" interest list.

Isn't this supposed to be the time of the introduction of the "turtle ram"?

The way I see it the LS1 style manifold is nothing more than an updated version of the TPI. They both have runners shaped like a question mark. I think the key is to shorten the TPI runners to the total length of around 13.5" like on the LS1. Also get the proper cross sectional area and taper then you would still retain the looks of the TPI but have an intake that functions like a LSx style. Hmmmm, I think someone has already made one up.

Can't you just switch the ls1 intake and such to a l98?

Re: The so called "Turtle Ram" interest list.

750 is not bad compared to other TPI intakes. I think Im going to stick with my SuperRam for now. Id like to see further testing on modified engines. Hopefully the magazines pick up on it like GM high tech performance and do some testing on it and maybe a full build with it.

do u know the inside of the LSx intake concept? here is a pic to give u a clue.. from what we know, in the LSx intakes, the first piston from the left side will be sucking air from the right side (second pic). the path of air (those chaped tube u see from the outside) will be on the top and the air going to the rest of the other pistons will be running under these paths(second pic). Adpting these concept to a small block, those paths will be going to the oposite side of the pistons in pairs. why? u dont have space between the two pairs of ports. the pics i did in Paint will help to understand.

Re: The so called "Turtle Ram" interest list.

I understand perfectly. I will say again each "individual runner" coming out of the plenum is shaped somewhat like a question mark in both systems. The difference is the runners are under the plenum with TPI and they are on top of the plenum with the LSx style intake.

The LSx consept is pretty understoodable. The runners are larger at the beggining and then they straigh a little to match the ports size. At the same time, its a way of conpressing air. correct me if i am wrong

Re: The so called "Turtle Ram" interest list.

That is correct and it is called "taper". I think what we have here is a failure to communicate. All I'm saying is the TPI and LSx intake systems are the same basic concept. The LSx intake system is a modern and refined version of the old TPI system.

With work (make that a lot of work ) you can make the TPI intake system mimic an LSx intake system. In fact and easier to do is make a SuperRam mimic an LSx intake system.

Re: The so called "Turtle Ram" interest list.

I spoke to Richard Galley in person last week. I mentioned this intake to him and he wouldn't really say too much. Just the same I let him know I wanted one and would be willing to do some dyno testing with my bolt on car. They are building a new 44K SQFT DC about 20 minutes from where I live. I was a bit dissapointed to say the least when he wouldn't comment on the release date.

The unofficial Official word from BBK is that it will be releases in the first quarter of '09. The base will be specific for this intake, you cannot buy the upper and runners and bolt onto something else.

Re: The so called "Turtle Ram" interest list.

OK lets look at this in another way it has been a VERY long time in the making, R&D does not occur quickly at all however if anyone who had wanted one of these intakes would have saved 5.00 dollars
per day since the original announcement of the making of this intake you could have an Lt1or an Ls1,2 or 3 by now, granted some DO NOT wish to do a drivetrain swap but really now look at the Capitol gains......PLEASE don't get me wrong I Love the L98 my friends and I were some of the first to get these cars to beat up the mustangs back in the day I am 42 now.Superram, miniram and the Stealthram are the best routes to take........ I realize some have to deal withthe EGR deal but fabricate a set up and use them suckers if in Comifornia well superram is your way besides the aftermarket runner and hogged out Plenum deal..., Real shame cause I had high hopes for this intake

Re: The so called "Turtle Ram" interest list.

This was completed and can now be bought for small block fords. We were not in the mix. If you are still excited by the limitations of TPI the king Vic Edelbrock has the answer with his complete bolt on Edelbrock EFI LS throttle body based intake. Super sweet in black powder coat option. It comes complete, and is easy to program. Forget the turtle! Turtles are for FORDS. The Pro Flo is the future. At least for now.
