After market HSR fuel pressure regulators
Hi, I tried to find an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator for my stealth ram, because the first one, was leaking after it was on the car for only a few days. I saw some guys on the board were using some aftermarket ones, but I couldn't find the threads.
If any of you are using an aftermarket regulator, please let me know. Thanks.

So the Kirban regulator
Billet Aluminum ADJUSTABLE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR #6547
Goes right onto the Holley fuel rails with the intake setup, and works fine, with no clearance issues with tall valve covers? I've heard that some other guys have had some trouble with it clearing the valve covers, if you look on my site, you can see, there tall!
So if this works then I'll buy it, but I don't want to buy one and find out it won't work, that would suck. Thanks for the help

Re: After market HSR fuel pressure regulators
no you shouldnt have a problem with "tall" covers. Ive got tall chevy covers and the regulator does not hit the covers at all....the only thing you may have a "little" problem with is getting the allen wrench to the adjustment screw but thats no big deal.

Kirban piece is great, no regrets since buying it, and clears everything easily.

Awesome, I'll be purchasing one of these tonight. The threads on my holley regulator got screwed up by one of my friends who was helping me assemble the car attempting to put a NPT nozzle in it. Good find!

Re: After market HSR fuel pressure regulators
Alright, so now I have my big cam in my motor, its sweet! I'll take a video soon. But I have 6-9" of vacuum at idle.
So my issue now is, has anyone found anything to do, to bring the fuel pressure down at idle with this low vacuum? Because I have a walbro pump, the 255 lph unit. I have the pressure set to 45, but at idle, its about 42-43, then u rev it a slightly, the pressure drops slightly, but then it goes back down like normal when you mash the gas.
So I'm curious, I may just raise the idle more for more vacuum, It is already around 1000rpm, but I am just curious if you guys can help out. Keith

Re: After market HSR fuel pressure regulators
thanks. I'm ready to buy that one, but now my bigges issue, is I have a big cam, and not much vacuum, between 6-9" at idle, and I'm trying to lower the fuel pressure at idle, without affecting the tune. I'm not sure what most guys do about this issue, lol

Re: After market HSR fuel pressure regulators
I just ordered a kirban aswell to replace the crap holley regulator...anxious to get my motor running again. As for your future issue,I would assume you would tune the injector pulse width for what the motor needs at idle versus turning the pressure down.I would think that adjusting the injector tables per given rpm would be more beneficial for you.Or have someone make you a tune that will be better suited for your setup. If you have such a big cam your probably idling around 900-1000rpm and might be making more vacuum at that range.

Re: After market HSR fuel pressure regulators
Well you see, thats the thing. Ed Wright did my tune, youknow, fast chip! So I'm not quite sure what to do. I've never heard of guys having trouble like this yet. But at idle, it fuels up, like a 3-circuit dominator carb, its just dumping fuel in! So then I clear it out, and it runs like a beast. But it gets so rich, it pops a little until it cleans up. SO IDK what to do yet. I already am going to have to buy a SSBC Vacuum pump for my breaks, right now, I can't even stall the motor on the foot break, without sliding away!
If you could, can you take some pics of your kirbin regulator install? I just wanna see how it looks when its installed. This holley regulators a bitch to adjust!

Re: After market HSR fuel pressure regulators
i ordered my kriban on friday and kirban called to let me know its back-ordered for a few days..no biggie.
as for install, its exactly like the holley regulator..literally unbolt the holley and put the kirban in its place...not even a 5 min part swap so taking install pics isnt really needed aside from the pic posted above.
I just hope this will solve alot of my fuel issues that i cant seem to pinpoint..but doing this upgrade is needed regardless since i see how many holley regulators are junk.

Re: After market HSR fuel pressure regulators
I bought my HSR and rails with plumbing for $680 and my regulator was bad a week after I installed it, I took it off, sent it to holley, and got it replaced, and run 50 psi, and it runs great, what do you all think of my setup?
I'm replacing my posi cones, and I'm doing 375 horse on 87 octane at the motor, not bad right? I mean custom cam, heads and other things work well. If you build it right, you can do a lot!

Re: After market HSR fuel pressure regulators
I don't think it should matter what the fuel pressure is at idle. The only reason the pressure changes with vacuum is to keep the pressure differential across the injector constant. When vacuum is low (manifold pressure high) the fuel pressure is high & visa versa. If you are getting too much fuel at idle it's something else in the tune causing it. Lowering the idle FP may help idle but I can't think of a way to do that without changing the pressure across the board.
