new Chinese 285$ hsr

ive known about this manifold for some time but being the seller had a limited quanity i didnt want to post it till i purchased one

i already purchased a real deal hsr but for the price i couldnt help but to snag one of these and compare them.
this thing is 285$ shipped and from the measurements the seller gave me the ports are just under a felpro 1206 gasket .
i should have mine in my hands on monday or tuesday and then i will post up pics of it and compare it to the real hsr for all to see .

if this thing is just as nice as the real hsr i will be sending mine back to summit racing

anyways heres a link to the ebay ad

ill have to get u the part number , looks like i have to slightly enlarge the mounting holes for it to bolt on properly but thats no big deal really

cause it is looking like the knockoff comes with a larger port/runner then the wieand and can be ported further .

price wasnt an issue here i have a real hsr that i purchased for my project
if the knockoff is capable of supporting more then the real hsr well then ill be using the knockoff

Re: new chinesse 285$ hsr

It will be interesting to see if it truely has enough material for a 1206.

Looks like about a $75 price difference.

Let's hope no one knocks off whatever work you guys do to support yourselves.

I'm sure the guys working at holley would like to keep working and supporting their families.

measurements the seller gave me put it in at just under 1206 out of the box
the hsr is cheap enough but if the knockoff can go bigger well thats what im going to use sometimes u have to just use what works

I don't know if the procomp rails work for the HSR, but if you have to buy Holley rails for the HSR then thats what? another $275 + $75 = $350 price difference. I don't have any experience with the HSR though. I could be wrong.

Re: new chinesse 285$ hsr

^ you can use procomp rails.

But at $275 the holley rails also includes a regulator and other hardware.

Someone here used procomp rails and after spending money to get them hooked up and running, the savings were not that great.

everyone says to not use the holley regulator though, u can buy the fuel rail blanks and make ur own rails really cheap as well but for 50 bucks u can buy the already machined procomp rails

i may end up having to buy .750 id fuel rail blanks anyways and making my own so that fuel rails will support 4 digit power on e/85 or methanol

Wouldn't a single plane be more appropriate for 4 digit hp?

And the Red Army gets a few more American dollars from an American ... yeah, one of those ... to ... what is the purpose of the Red Army's existence, anyway?

I will not give those people ONE GODDAMN DIME of my money if I can help it, in any manner way shape form or fashion. Not at Walmart, not at ProComp, not ANYWHERE. Yeah, I may not live long enough to see it, myself; but I REFUSE to contribute to the enslavement of my own grandchildren to debt accumulated by short-sighted bargain hunters in my lifetime by my generation because I was TOO CHEEEEEEEEEEP to realize that paying a Red Army officer to enslave his own people FIRST is a bad idea.

Incidentally, I have a deep and abiding respect for the Chinese people and their culture; learned to read and write a little of their language, even. OTOH I have NO RESPECT WHATSOEVER for the economic system, and therefore the plantation overseers, they labor under at this time in history. Someday, they'll figure it out, and fix the Communist Party problem; until then, my money does NOT go there. Even if it costs me a coupla coins (which is all it is, in this case) to keep my money out of their hands.

problem is the ports on the head side are rough out of the box

the plenum on the other hand is an awsome piece out of the box its hand fabricated or more then likley robot fabricated but made out of 1/4 inch aluminum , and ball milled on the top then polished

unfortunatly i forgot to bring the cord for my iphone to work so i cant post pics till tonight

Nothing an hour with some sanding couldn't cure. I look forward to the pics. I bought the single plane hurricane for my 383. It took a little porting and clean up but after that it's not a bad piece for the price.

Re: new chinesse 285$ hsr

i think u missed the part
You're wrong. I didn't miss ANY parts.

Personally I don't give a damn what it has or doesn't have; I won't give the Red Army A DIME of my money if I can help it.

In a few years, when the people figure out they've been getting duped just like East Germany did and Hungary and the Ukraine and Poland and ... all the rest, maybe things will be different. In the meantime, the People's Army - that fires on The People when it suits them - can go straight to Hell for all I care.

yeah theres nothing wrong with it if ur not afriad to take a dremel/die grinder to it.Prolly take me 30 mins to clean up the ports.
but for somone with no tools who needs to bolt it on out of the box this intake deffiatly isnt for them

id like to add the manifold base has the bosses so u can drill it out to the vortec pattern as well , so if u need the votec version this one would save u around 150$ on just the manifold, thats more then half the cost of the holley fuel rail kit

im getting out of work now ( had to cover for my bosses shift today as well as mine)and im getting ready to head right over to the shop to start spraying the engine bay.

it will be late as hell before i get home but when i do ill get thos epics up asap

i had pictures with the measurements of the ports and how thick the walls are but the flash washed them out, tommorow morning i will take more without the flash and post them

1206 gasket is not an issue , looks like u coupld possibly even go to a or almost to a 1207 gasket but u would have to rework alot of the runner

this intake deff needs some port work to clean up the head side of the ports but imho i like it more then the wieand , i may send my real hsr back , or i might drop it on my truck

Looks great! Nothing like a freshly cast piece of aluminum. And that plenum is a work of art. If I didn't have emissions to deal with here in CA, I would pick one of those up for my car.

they sell both the plenum and lower intake seperatly , so if someone has a real hsr and would like that plenum u can buy it by itself , or u could just buy just the base to replace the wieand if u needed to goto a 1206 or larger port

I paid for a real HSR so i think I can chime in about knock offs. Once a manufacturer has paid for the research/devlpt, etc, etc costs that they always yap about, maybe they should consider lowering their prices every year instead of the other way around. I'm pretty sure Weiand/Holley have long since made their money on this.

all they did was take there tunel ram base and stick a top on it that the tpi TB would bolt to...and pop in some bosses for the FI.

not much if any RD...

if they did any it would fit more cars with stock hoods...
and cutting a small hole to fit lager openings. with out doing all of the runner is doing nothing. but make ya feel good.
but if your cutting all of the runner from top to bottom the same size... then that works.but i know.. ya know this..

Will the top of the eBay intake bolt to the hsr base and is it lower profile all togather. Reason I ask is for the firebird guys like me who would like to keep the stock hood without hacking anymore than necessary.

same as the holley/wieand
u could make ur own plenum very easily for this intake since it only has 4 mounting holes

if i were to make my own plenum i would build one to use the ls round throttle body to make the plenum not as high , and sheetmetal shop could bend and weld u up a plenum for lil cost

sorry for the lack of new pictures guys i spent the weekend trying to sort out my p[earl paint job, it was a total disaster, lol only thing we got to spray was my junk hood for practice, i had only enough time to get the timing set on timing cover bolted down and the front accessories on the engine

Trying to buy American and fighting the new global economy isnt going to do you any good. it's a complex issue, but if you want to understand what's really going on I suggest you listen to this:

http://www.dancarlin.com/disp.php/cs...ts-republicans

It's basically out of our hands at this point. If the product is good I will buy Chinese, not because I hate America, but because the American dream is already dead.

If the Chinese are making a better intake, then Holley should step it up and make theirs better or deal with the consequences.
