Re: My SLP T ram install

Well, the factory connector hardlines from the soft lines to the runs into pretty much everything on the front of the T ram. I’m still brainstorming on how I want to do the fuel lines. While the stock SLP braided lines are the correct AN lines and fittings for the kit, with the instruction sheet to prove it, I really don’t love the look of braided flex hose and red and blue fittings. Trying to decide what approach would be appropriate for the car.

Do i I try to copy the SLP lines with eaton black rubber coated high pressure line with zinc coated steel ends??

Do i bend up hardlines and make a mount and stretch the factory stock lines to them?

Do i bend, cut, and farral the factory connector lines and get them to a AN connector and run short soft hose from there?

My vote would be for custom hardlines as far as you can run them. Looks much more factory stock than aftermarket engineering. Just my . 02.

Re: My SLP T ram install

Would a 90* angle fitting work on the intake?

Looks to be a crack on the intake next to the fitting?

DAMN! I'm digging how that looks and just LOVE the door decals (will need to find out where you sourced those) but the question I've got is what's up with the A/C on the 1LE???

Re: My SLP T ram install

I was told it was some sort of special service ordered 1LE by the previous owner. It is definitely 1LE by the RPO, and has all of the correct pieces, I’m not sure what exactly it was ordered as. Manual windowe, manual locks, radio delete, aluminum driveshaft, 1LE brakes, etc but it has AC. I never looked to much into it, as I didn’t even know what a 1LE was when I bought it. The wiring had been messed with under the dash before I got it, it could be an after the fact install??

Charlie, I'm curious as to which route your going to run your fuel lines. I'd favor the hard lines for a cleaner factory look, but the original firehawk had a billet part. Here is a pic I found online.

Wow! I have never seen that pic, and that billet block. I wish I could get my hands on one or some tracings or measurements on it. I would love to do something just like that. I think the hardlines would be much more safe.

There is a lot going on with the billet fuel block and a couple different billet blocks that were used on the hawks. Same with the rear fuel psi regulators, couple different ones used there too.

H

So I got the lower bolted down and sealed, as well as the thermostat on it. I am not super in love with the way the radiator hose points down then has to go back up to the radiator, it also makes the hose sit goofy, as well as I think I will have to trim the hose support off the upper radiator mount which is a bummer. Also I can’t decide what to do with the exhaust tips for the 2OTL setup. Do I leave them natural with the yellow writing on them? Or do I take some scotebrite to them and polish them up??

Charlie looks like hose goes over the belt guard would T-ram be different? you need a dual air intake that'd fix the issue

Charlie has it correct, the t-ram used a different t stat housing and belt guard.

well, getting the drivers side header in was no fun, but it’s in. I need to massage the hardlines for the brakes a little, but it should be ok. Moving on to looking at the cable mechanism now.

I have a stack of those original decals from when I was ordering parts back in the day.

Looks like the cruise bracket is a little bent. ;-)

yeah it’s definitely got a bend in it, I think that must have been to clear the AC on Dave’s 87. I wanted to get it bolted in place to make sure there would be no clearance issues anywhere before I tap it back straight. I am plugging away a little bit every night on it, trying to get it running as reasonably quickly as possible. I hate having my cars stuck in on spot in the shop immobile. The weather here is actually somewhat decent, so I can get some miles on it if I can get to back together.

So ofcourse the low gloss black had some sort of reaction and has a wrinkle finish on the back side but it’s not visible so I’m going to roll with it. But the coil, and map are now mounted, and clear the back of the intake and the side tanks. Now I just need to figure out something for the egr solenoid, but none the less, another step closer!

Re: My SLP T ram install

well I spent a fair big of time laying out and looming the plug wires and getting that all fastened cleanly, then had to set the plenum and tank on it to see how it’s going to be for running the vacuum lines and getting stuff moved around it. It’s a TIGHT fit!! But none the less it’s all going to fit.

I hate hacking wiring up, but I think I am going to need to cut the pigtail for the EGR solenoid off the harness and add about 16” of length to the 2 wires to move the thing closer to the EGR valve and get it out of the way of the coil and map sensor mount. That’s going to be my next project before I tackle the fuel lines.

here’s the bottom of the plenum. I actually bought another T ram that will be here this week that has the front fuel rail plug that’s steel instead of anodized blue so I’ll use that on mine. I’m not going to change the crossover line because you can’t see it, but I definitely will swap the fees and return lines. I’m thinking socketless aeroquip with steel fittings

So the TB flows to the "Center" port on the side then into side covers into runners and down to the base? that's so weird! I mean cool? Has anyone ever flowed these things? Sorry Charlie I have only ever seen one in person ever before and it was on a car at a car show and how the hell do you guys find these things? I'd like to find one but then I'd have to do another 401k loan

Zman your right about the air flow. The ports are large on the t-ram.
I have never seen a flow test on the t-ram just a dyno comparison.

just a pair! My first one has everything, including the cruise bracket. The second one has the upper throttle bracket, the regulator, bolts, gaskets, etc, but no fuel lines, cruise bracket, thermostat housing, or belt gaurd. From mocking it up, I think as long as you weren’t running the SLP dual CAI you could use the standard TPI belt gaurd and any generic thermostat housing. So basically I’ll just have to put that one on a stick shift camaro with the stock air intake.

Wish I had the patience and motivation to actively search for this stuff, and the raw impulse to acquire it when I see it. Guess that's the same reason I never win big on the lottery. Congrats on finding another one, ya horder.

What would be the point of that? The dual cold air intake is an important part of a complete balanced breakfast... I mean... T-ram.

I've got a dual cold air, you should sell me a T-ram, then you wouldn't have to worry about the missing bits, it'd be my problem. No?

Yeah, but I picked up the green bird just so I could finally use the cold air. But I am a bit cold on the project car at the moment.

So I decided to hardline it, and got started with that today. I am going to use one of the OE fuel line clamps off one of the TPI setups I had at my shop, and I’ll bend it and do a tab off the alternator support rod to mount it to. Stay tuned!

Re: My SLP T ram install

I gave up looking for one of these intakes when I got married and had kids. ~ It's impossible to hold onto that much "she doesn't know about" cash in the hopes you see a unicorn someday. Maybe Tony will get tired of looking at his spare one day and decide to sell it to me. Here that Tony? "I got DIBS". hahaha!!!

Re: My SLP T ram install

I will be getting back to this project shortly.. I am almost done with my 4th gen bracket cars winter updates, and I have a 17’ Denali HD duramax as a daily driver and it’s doing typical Duramax things aka breaking down every 3,000 miles so new truck shopping has taken my attention away recently. But I have a new ram 2500 on order, so it will be here in 7-9 weeks.. hopefully the Duramax lasts that long 😂😂
