EBL P4 Flash Update Instructions
READ THIS FIRST!
Introduction
The EBL_P4Update utility is a Windows program. When connected to
the EBL P4 Flash ECM via the data logging/flashing port it will
update the base code in the ECM along with the calibrations. The
process takes a little over three minutes to complete. Once completed your
EBL P4 Flash ECM will have the latest firmware in it. The 8 banks of
calibrations will also be updated.
- The EBL P4 Flash update
process reads the current calibrations out of the ECM. These are placed
into a series of files named Bank_0_old.bin through Bank_7_old.bin.
- They will be created in the same folder (directory) that the update utility is run from.
- The update utility will then create eight new calibrations. These are based on the ones read from the EBL P4 Flash ECM.
- They too are created in the same folder that the update is run from. And are named Bank_0_new.bin through Bank_7_new.bin.
- The update process will flash in these new calibrations along with he updated ECM code.
- Use these new calibrations for all further tuning. So copy & rename them as required.
- Do not delete the old (original) calibrations that have been created.
- If
the update process fails, just restart it. It will need the
calibrations that were read out. This is why they need to be left in
place.
To update
- Copy the EBL_P4Update utility into it's own folder (make a new folder).
- Boot laptop, start the EBL_P4Update program.
- Select the proper COM port, it will be the same one that the WUD uses (close the WUD).
- Connect laptop to EBL P4 Flash ECM via USB port.
- Key-on, engine-off. Wait for COM port to show "Open."
- Click the "Proceed With Update" button.
- Wait for the update program to go through all eight calibration banks (about 3 minutes).
- Once completed double click on the Setup_P4_1-2.msi file. This will install the latest XDF, DOC's, BINs, WUD and so on.
Notes
- An electric cooling fan will run during the update process, be careful of this occurring (keep hood closed)
- Once updated DO NOT USE ANY OF YOUR OLD CALIBRATIONS. Use ONLY the newly created calibrations
- A rapidly flashing SES/CEL light means that an old calibration has been used with the new code, or vice-versa
- The update includes all new base calibrations that are already updated
- The update utility can also update any original stand alone calibrations. File->BIN Updates... (ATL-F, B)
