thats great guys. Thanks for keeping the post going. Some really nice cars. It would be something if we all met up sometime and took a cruise someplace....have like a huge caravan of formula's go down or up to someplace. I did that with my brother with a vette crew. Bout 500 corvette's in all. C3's, C4's, and brand new C5's. Talk about alot of fun. We all drove down to Bowling green where the aseembly plant is.
Its just a thought....im going to try and see bout going and meeting up with the new england f-body club somtime this spring. Dont know for sure yet...got to wait and see how long its going to take me to get my car all done.

If any f-body club passes through the southern central plains region, I'll be there.

I was gfx-less at one point but, somebody graciously ran a red light in front of me fixing that problem...
Seeing some of your cars does make me wish I had just put a new formy front back on (or change to a 91-92 nose) and left it at that at times though.

Fyrelance, I dont understand your car at all.
Im confused because it has some qualities of a formula, then many that do not.
First of all, is that original paint? If its not, that would explain why "Formula" is not on your car on the doors or rear, as well as the 5.0 liter sticker is wrong. It would be a cooler font that says 5.0 LITER FI (For example my old bulge hood said 5.7 LITER FI)
Also, did the original owner have a different set of wheels on it or did you damage the stoke ones? Stock formula wheels are 16" as well has not having the insides painted black. For example, look at Tom Kelihers original wheels in this post.
Also, the Aero Spoiler is missing. Maybe the person you bought it from stripped the car or something?

Though many people on this board seem to love the look of my car with no spoiler (and I kinda like it too since it makes it unique), I am going to be replacing it with a fourth-gen style wing. I am also in the process of doing body work, and the hood is going to be replaced with a Ram Air II hood. The rims will probably be replaced with ROH Snyper's, 17". So all those little issues aren't much of a problem... it makes me feel better customizing the car a bit as opposed to tearing into a perfectly good, stock Formula.
Every time I take something apart on my car I find something IDIOTIC that a previous owner did. Don't even get me started.... :: sigh ::

Would you be willing to describe the process you used, what type of gun, hong long it took you, a ballpark cost, etc. My daily driver could use paint, but being a daily driver it doesnt have to be anything real nice. I thought about trying to paint it myself this spring. Thanks a lot.

Brett, theres over $1k in materials there. I partially disassembled the car. Sanded everything down, primered with eurethane primer, sanded, reprimered repeat, sealed, laid the base coat down, then clear. It's all dupont products. The plastic bumper covers and spoiler I did seperately. They were sanded down to the base material. Sprayed with adhesion promoter, sealer, base coat, then clear. The plastic parts use a different sealer and have flex additive added to the clear.
You'll find if you buy paint products that everything comes in a minimum of quart sizes. Whether you need it or not.. and quarts always seem to run $50 or better! My paint was bout $150 a gallon. Clear was a bit more. So the cost of paint isnt too bad. It's all the reducers, hardeners, cleaners etc that start runnin up the price. Every component(paint, clear, primer etc) uses different hardeners and reducers.
As far as equipment goes. I have a 5hp craftsman compressor, dual action sander, inline sander, long hand board, cheap touch up spray gun for doing jams and small parts, and my trusty Binks 2001 spray gun(not hvlp), oh and of course a breather!! You definately need a water/oil seperator for the compressor, and use a disposable filter at the gun too. Nothin worse than sprayin moisture in with you're new paint.. Learned the hard way once.

Hey I appreciate that info a lot. I think a few others on here may have painted their cars and also said they had a little over $1k. Buddy of mine got his mustang painted, clearcoated, and a new fender put on for 900 bucks. And it looks pretty good. So I may just go that route since its a daily ride, but thought I'd check with ya first anyways. Thanks again.

Thanks for clearing that up. I didnt want to call you out as not having a formula I just was confused because of the circumstances. Your plans sound badass
