I'm not going to say I hate SC's, but I'm just not a big fan. One thing that CaysE and Burn EM! made me realize is that SC's look alot better with a set of 16 inch IROC wheels or 91-92 Z28/RS wheels , nice clean SC's we have on TGO it looks though..which is always good

it used to have black painted rockers and black painted mirrors, but it was repainted and those details were painted over. i'm not too sure what i want to do with it yet. either silver older style ground effects and a louvered hood or back to its origional state.

*update!*

it's got a soiler back on it too, hope to get pics of that tomorrow.

hope to get the hood painted soon, but unfortunately, i don't see it happening for at least another month. but here are some new pics of the car, let me know what you think about it. the hood is a 3" Champion Fiberglass Products peice and looks ALOT like the cervini's hood.

Carlover01, sorry I didn't see your post above asking about my rim sizes. Rear rims are 15x8 w/4.5in backspacing, front are 15x7 w/ 4.5in backspacing. I also have some 4in wide rims for the front when racing.

Man! I'm in on this one late! When I was in the market for a 3rd gen, all I wanted was an 87 SC, believe it or not.

Bought an 87SC Lg4, threw in an awesome black interior, painted it "Viper Red" with gramps, free 300 mile tires, added spohn sfc's, and then a 350HO

future plans are an SS hood, 17 or 18 inch Zo6 rims with big fat kumhos, a t56 and 3.73's, and maybe a z highrise out back

*** I love Sport Coupes!

Anyone making custom SC badges?

Tobias, that car is looking great! glad to see people so into the SportCoupes. i will be doing some things with decals/graphics/emblems, but i don't want to release any of my ideas just yet until they are done. a friend of mine has a decal machine at his house, so i will be working closely with him to get some cool badges made. i just bought some of the "camaro" emblems that go on the the side of the car, and i am looking into some different paint schemes for them. i will be out of commission for a little while though, i just got shoulder surgery on Friday morning, had to reconstruct the ligaments and cartlidge in my right shoulder, eh, whatever.

here are some interior shots of the car:

mmmmm, Percaset

another bad sportcoupe. would be better if it had stock rear suspension though.

This is the best picture of my SC since my camera broke, but you can barely see how bad the paint really is (looks like its never clean, even after being washed). I bought it with the lower striping on it, and it looks like it has some other type of gray striping on it under the black ones. Its a cool look, but I am gonna get the whole thing black, except for the spolier which I think would look good silver. Even got the stock wheels still on it!

sad part is i had to make it my daily driver, i put 12 miles a day on it, the car does need a little work , the rear engine seal is leaking a little, and the rear deck lid could use repainting, on the bright side i put the top on my self last summer, first time ever fooling with a convertible top, and so far it has not leaked a drop.i have owned this car for 10 years and have thought about selling it.

call me ignorant....why would his car be the rarest one around?

I love that style convertible thirdgens. I don't like the early ones though, the "two seater ones...with the weird looking trunk...with what looks like gate hinges. Not a real good looking convertible conversion in my opinion.

because in 1987 there were only 263 Sport Convertibles produced. Not sure about the LT, but I'm betting that was an option that even limited the total number further

263 as opposed to my 88 sport convertible that had 1859 produced.....

Oh and the 2 seaters were typically done by a company other than ASC who was GM's 'official' chop shop.....seems like there was one in Illinois that was fairly popular....

And the post was "ONE of the rarest"......

i was told it was rare because of the rpo code 1 sd which is the LT convertible option package# 4. Back in 1987 this option alone cost $2376.00 . over two thousand dollars for 1 option ,reason i know how much it cost is ,i have the factory invoice.another interesting fact is most ,if not all the convertibles came with the stayfast canvas top, my car came with a standard black vinyl top.

not having GFX can be offset by a good set of rims and a little lowering. On stock rims and tires, they often look like they are in a perpetual state of hydraulic jump. (just my opinion)

That conv. is SWEET! U should lower it with a nice pair of 17's that would look unbeleivable!

Thanks for the compliment, i think it would look good lowered to, but i am trying to keep it as stock as possable, i am actually looking for some stock gold berlinetta rims to put back on the car.

Re: SportCoupe guys come in!

Sport Coupes catch a lot of flack, but I like em. My first Camaro was a 83 LG4 auto. I liked it, and I'd probably still have it except a kid rear ended me at a stop light. I got my 2.8L 84 Camaro dirt cheap from a tow yard... It was a beater but was fun to play with. I'd still like to do a serious Sport Coupe, but they're hard to find anymore.

Just imagine a stripped down, all business, Sport Coupe with a 350 TPI, good gears, 16" wheels, FE2 suspension... It'd be a bad *** car. Sort of a lighter, faster version of the Firebird Formula. It's too bad Chevy didn't build a bad *** Coupe.

Re: SportCoupe guys come in!

here are my three. i added that third one because that was a car show i went to in june, it was my first car show and it was also 150 miles away( grandpa started it) out of 65 cars i came in second for best in show and missed first by 2 votes, 1 and i would have tied. 2 i would have won. anyways 86 sports coupe, pretty much built from the ground up.
