GETTING A 89 TTA THAT NEEDS A LITTLE WORK, SOME GUIDANCE PLEASE

OK if you read the earlier post you remember this car has a Salvaged title. Well all the body work has been done and there was never any frame damage. What is still wrong with the Body is a busted tail light, grounf FX are not on(but has all of them with the car), and the front bumper is not on. New paint, but the paint on the wing is cracked.
Now what I need to know is about how much will it cost to get the wing painted, where do I need to get the bolts for the GFX, and how much does a tail light cost, where can I get one, and How much of the rear hatch area will need to be removed to get to it?

Oh by the way my 86 T/A is now for sale for $3,500. Oh and I am not gettign the turbo for $3000. I am getting it for 5,500 because when I talked to the guy who actuall owned the car said all the car nedds is that stuff replaced and a new batter, fresh tank of gas and someone to drive it and its ready to go, so he said there was noway he was letting it go that cheap. The dude that told me about the car was just lying to me. I think it is a fair price for the condition its in.

Well what do you guys think?

I think it's hard to respond without being able to see the actual condition the car is in. I guess I'd be very cautious these type of situations can turn into a big money pit just as easily as it turning into a steal.

Why was it given a salvage title if the damage was only cosmetic? That part would scare me alot.

To answer your question about the wing, I would not repaint it, it will probably just crack again. Any body shop will tell you that wing is crap. I can't even find a shop that would paint my cracked one because they said it wasn't worth it. Spend the extra $$$ and get the fiberglass one, thats what I'm doing. I got est. for around $200 to get it painted. The taillight you can get just about anywhere for very cheap. Try www.tacreactionsusa.com they have everything. As far as how much of a deal you got on the car, you need to tell us more about the car... miles, interior, ect.

Well I have yet to see it. it was wrecked before and hasa had all the body and paint work done except the GFX and front bumper have not been put on. The tail light was busted out by a handle bar off a bike. He just doesn't want to finish it.
It only has lik 48,000 MILES!!!!

If the rear spoiler is cracked, get a fiberglass replacement from GT Accessory's or someone else.

you can get the car checked out for like $75.00. That is your best bet. Ask him if you can get someone to look at it before you buy. If he has a problem with this I would steer clear. If you cant find anyone in your area, get it up on a rack and look for any new frame parts, bends, welds, paint. If you notice any of these I would not have anything to do with it.

Hey Kyle,
The Tail lights and ground effects are all the same from a GTA. The only thing that is different on the TTA's tail lights is the gold and white bird on the back, and the "TURBO" plate in between the tail lights. As for the car, if the engine and turbo are in good shape it is probably worth the 5500 he is asking for it. It is relatively easy to put these cars into the 11's with only a handful of mods. Check out www.turbobuick.com www.turbotransam.com and www.li.net/~rsalerno/ for more info on these cars. Good Luck.
