Valve covers painted black!

Well I finally got around to painting the valve covers! Heres how they came out!

First I lightly scuffed the covers so the primer would stick better. Heres one before and after.

Here they are with the primer on...

And here they are with the black!!!!

For those who dont know, I did use 400 degree engine primer and enamel.

I will be filling in the grooves with silver paint in a few days when I have let the paint settle better. I will have the pics up after that.

So whatcha think???

Re: Valve covers painted black!

Sweet. That looks awesome! ....I had gone from my stock silver VC's, to polished, now powdercoated silver, and now I'm thinking about black. Always gotta keep it fresh!

Re: Valve covers painted black!

Those covers came out nice man! But black kind of blends in with everything else, dont you think? I like the first pic where one of them looks like a glossy dark metallic. I think I may paint mine something like that.

Re: Valve covers painted black!

It really depends. black valve covers on a black engine block with aluminum heads and manifold dont get hidden too much. but an all black setup is kinda eh....They came out really nice though. I am anxious to see the grooves filled in with silver

Re: Valve covers painted black!

What brand paint and primer did you use? Looks great, I think I'm inspired to do the same. Thanks, Henry
