Re: Parking Lot Paparazzi
Here in KC I think we have come to the point where 3rd gens are Garage Queens or backyard ornaments. I drive mine nearly every day but have not seen a working 3rd gen in months. The last one on the road I saw was a wrecked Camaro with a fender flying in the wind.
From the looks of the above photos, this is happening all over. I thought there would be a lot more of them when this thread started. However, many are parked and in need of or in the process of being repaired. I see them for sale on CL and a couple of junks in fields but never on the street.
It's no wonder people speed up to me to get a good look at my Firebird. It's probably the only one they have ever seen on the road!

Re: Parking Lot Paparazzi
That's definitely an area thing. Down south there are quote a few third gens around, both driving and sitting. A friend of mine makes a work trip from nj to va, every week and sees quite a few third gens all the time and other vehicles of that era. In nj there's still quite a few dd third gens around. I just saw two average condition camaros yesterday and at my school of 5000 students there are always 3 or 4 third gens in the parking lot not including mine
Sitting in someone's yard or driveway i see a lot of third gens. There are about a dozen that I know of within a few miles of my house in a town where there were 4 junkyards in at once and one scrap metal yard. I know for sure those yards have owned and crushed a lot of f bodies yet there are still a lot of them around.

I saw a few F-bods on the road : a '92 base Bird in Jamaica yellow last weekend, and a 2nd gen TA on the freeway today going in the opposite direction. I don't have my cell phone handy enough while driving to get a picture though.

Saw a Flame Red GTA hard top on Route 84 in Danbury late yesterday morning and then I'm pretty sure it was the same car in the afternoon off exit 8. Had to be the same car - how many of them could there be running around here.

Never mind me.. just a personal pet peeve... I must correct as I like seeing larger pics rather than having to open all the pics in new windows...

Re: Parking Lot Paparazzi
Quote / Personally, I LOVE the stares. I hate being tailed, though. I had someone do that a few years back (drove like hell to catch up to me), and had to ditch him by pulling into a church parking lot. It'd be my luck that he'd be so distracted he rear ended me.
I like the stares as well. I've had several parking lot conversations as well that were fun. What I don't like is people who drive up to my blind spot and hover for miles.
It's nice to have a unique car but my previous lament was mostly about disappointment in not seeing others. I like the latest photos posted. It shows there are at least some places where they can be seen regularly.
I carried a camera in my car for 3 months. I only missed one car i saw that I would post. The only other one I saw running was a junk that looked like it just came from the demolition derby.
Keep the photo's coming. It's nice to see them being driven somewhere.

I DD mine, but 3rd gen DDs are generally long gone in my area, even the 4th gens are getting rare. But I am in the salt belt, and in the city/suburbs. Everyone drives boring 0-5 year old econo sedans or German stuff.
I have spotted a 85 Sport Coupe in my area, looking like a clean DD, but haven't been able to grab a photo yet.
Good thread though, keep the pics coming.

I was looking at my uncles house on street view and there was an IROC driving by. What are the odds....

That's a great find...Body looks super solid for an East Coast car. I think those tail lights are wrong though? Either way, I'd love to have that car, shame someone is letting it sit like that. Were you able to get in touch with the owner? Hell, I'll drive out there an save it if he's willing to part with it for a reasonable $.

That's a really rare car at that...85 IROC 305 TPI in Yellow with the super rare rear wiper option. Tail lights are definitely wrong, but that's an easy fix...where is this car at? I'm on my way there now!!! Wish I could see the interior.

Composite, symbiotic organisms made up from members of as many as three kingdoms. The dominant partner is a fungus. Fungi are incapable of making their own food. They usually provide for themselves as parasites or decomposers.
Looks like they're having the Tuned Port Injection emblem for lunch!

Ok it sits for years but can someone explain me how the heck it still has air in the tires? I mean I have a Chrysler 300m i rarely to never use and in a year the tires deflate no matter how new they are or how perfect the rims are.
oh and it still has the antenna...which means people in that area are nice or no longer use antennas for their cars

It was a few years ago. When I go down in September I will check with the Inn and see what's what

Found this silver/gray '86 Z28 in the local Wal-Mart parking lot, so I parked beside of it and took a picture

Used to see this bad boy fly up and down my old street every couple of months, went to a car show and sure enough he was there. Not a fan of the paint job but it's a very clean build, I remember flipping through the book he had out and being amazed at the work he put into it.

Spotted this 87 IROC work in progress, luckily too, I passed the customers house where I was going and stumbled on to it.

We all used to love them, until we knew they did more harm the good, in the long term.

Yeah I had one on my 86TA back in the day. I used to put it on during longer trips or when I wanted to do some high speed runs (i was a stupid kid) but I always worried about color fading on the car but not under the bra...that would look bad over the years. I never thought about the moisture. I saw adds back then bor clear bras with little clear stickers but knew those would cause less faded little dots over years as well. didnt own the car long enuf for that to be an issue.

Blew the engine at 180k, and sold it for $500 bucks. I still see the car to this day driving around town with the haze bra.
