Yep, my air filter setup is same. Interesting that you went back to that setup after some trial and error.
The only problem I have with it is the IAT goes high enough on a hot day at idle that the tune will start pulling timing. Maybe I'll box it in a bit or move to temp sensor.
Interesting is it the air is hot or is the fan blowing on the temp sensor its self? I have seen it play havoc in that way before. My car runs pretty cool for the most part usually 180.
Never took a temp measurement underhood but my opinion is it gets pretty darn hot. The headers cause a lot of the heat. Engine runs cool (usually around 190F if I remember right).
IAT sensor (LS1 F-body style) is on back side of intake tube, facing the engine. It's definitely seeing radiator air wash. The sensor also has line of sight to the #2 header tube and that's where the real heat comes from. I've thought about putting a heat shield on the exhaust. I've thought about a lot of things that I never try.
