leaky hatch?

every time it rains hard my passenger side rear seat gets a soaking. (it's right at the back of the squab and also just onto the backrest) it seems to be coming in from the trim strip on the roof that runs the width of the car behind the headlining.

Do you think this is coming in round the hatch hinges? my t- tops don't seem to leak at all, and i think it is too far back (well behind line of top) to be from the t's

Living in England means pleanty of rain, so finding this leak would be a good idea!

well to take the hatch out of play just use the rtv rubber gasket sealant and reseal around the gaskets/bolts of the hatch!!

once thats done you might need to use some of that sealant and just reseal the rear of the t-top weatherstripping were it goes along the rear of the roof body line...

good luck, leaks can be a pain, its just take alot of time to find out where its leaking and and just usually a few bucks to fix the leaks..

run a search on here to find more info on hatch leaks and then t-top leaks if you still leak after fixing the hatch...

cheers bud!

I'm pretty sure its the hatch, because of where the leak is, also the headliner is bone dry. I'm going to re seal the hinges / bolts tomorrow, so i'll take it from there!

Re: leaky hatch?

odd, my car just started doing the exact same thing 4 days ago. I am going to try to diagnose it this weekend.

Re: leaky hatch?

after removing that piece of plastic above the rear seat I found the problem. there is a small hole on both sides of the car that go trough the inside sheet metal and out side. I could see day light while sitting in the back seat with the hatch closed. it almost looks like too long of a screw was used at one time or i am using ones that are too short now.
