hey i got a different shifter for my 1988 camaro. it is the 5 speed trans. i can't figure out how to get the old leather ball off the damn thing. how does this come off. does it screw off, pop off, or is it glued on some one help me out i am frustrated i am about to take a hammer to it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Hey! The shifter **** should unscrew if you turn it in a counterclockwise direction. I know that's how it is on my '84 TA, both with the stock T-5 and shifter and with the new T-56 and Hurst Billet Plus shifter. It's probably screwed on pretty tight, but you should be able to just grab it and unscrew it! Good luck!

Yeah, you probaly need to turn harder or spray some penatrating spray lube on the bottom of it.
