Gen 4 console problem

Okay, I've got the base of the console installed alright, but I cna't seem to get the shifter plate piece to sit flush with the base?? It seems like it's hitting part of the automatic shifter. It's a console from a 98+ and I've got it in a 91 automatic bird. Anybody else have this problem? I have the console shifted as far over to the passenger side, but just can't seem to get it to fit right.

You are going to have to notch the manual top slightly to get it to set flush. The auto hits in the right front of the gearshift opening.
