Ignition cylynder
The other day i went to start my car and it was hard to turn the key forward. Then later that day i went to start the car and had to push the cylynder in in order to get the key to turn to start the car. it turned fine thoruh the Acc and everything just that last push forward to start it it would not budge. Then tonight it finaly decided to stop turing at all and left my mom stranded at the voteing polls. So i go to start it and i literly have to use btoh my hands to turn it and it snapped and seemed to turn freeley after that. So i got home i experimented turnign the car on and off. Well then it got stuck in the on position and i could not turn off my enigne so i had to use 2 hands and twist the cylynder backwards. Right now its working fine. Any ideas what it could be. I was going tto put some oil in it any one recomend one that penatrates better. I had this problem a few years back but it was a 1 time thing. not as sumerous as this.

Same crap happened to me. I was stranded downtown in a major city until 3:30 in the morning
Take off your steering wheel, and replace the ignition switch. It's like 8 bucks at Autozone. Mine works fine now.

Mine does this sometimes. Actually it used to be really bad but it kind of fixed itself lately?? It won't stay on ACC though. Anyway, anybody know how much a new one is for one with a micro-chipped key?

probably a lot though GM, have you tried squirting a little powdered graphite in there yet? it comes in a tube and can be had rather cheaply at places such as true value and home depot it really works wonders on sticky ignition switches
I've heard that graphite works well, but when I had the same problem (except I couldn't shut off my car! I had to disconnect the distributor cap...) I just replaced the ignition cylinder. I was lucky enough to have another Camaro for parts, but you can get another cylinder pretty much anywhere. You'll need a steering wheel puller and another tool that looks like a U-clamp. It takes off the cover under the steering wheel so you can get to the turn signal switch and eventually the ignition lock cylinder screw.
Good luck!
Good luck!
