Help needed quick, What's this peice of the door lock made of?
Alright, I need to know this quick because i'm putting in new door locks as we speak...Is the face (or rim around where the key goes) Made of alum.? or what kind of metal?
Will they rust because their is no paint what-so-ever on one and then another has a little bit of black paint left.
Any idea's?
can i just sand them the rest of the way/ polish them, or should I have them paint them when i paint the rest of the car(few months)?
I know it's a very stupid question guys, but i had to ask.

when I got my car the metal around the hatch had rust on it so I sanded and painted with Rust-Oleum primer then gloss black, while I was at it I painted the keyhole faces. why couldn't they make both stainless steel? I've seen other cars with the same problem on the hatch

yah i painted my doorlock faces too but drivers side one is chiped off again, so make sure you sand well and prime it well...and maybe you could tape off and not paint the very center of it. Yah my hatch trim is rusting as we speak i noticed it a few weeks ago.
