Any good original parts online?
I just found this site last weekend. It's cool! I had done a search for 82-92 camaro firebird parts, and this is the second site that was listed in the search results.
I've checked out many of the other sites already, and I've found a lot of parts--mostly all reproductions. And in many cases, the repros seem as expensive as originals would be. My car is still all original, and I'd prefer to keep it that way. But if I have to go with repros, I will, it's not that big a deal.
So does anyone know of any original parts suppliers? Most parts aren't made by GM anymore, so it's very difficult to find originals.
Thanks,
Tim

Interior parts would be the only ones critical to keep original, I guess.
Accept for my seat, the fabric is still like new. The rear seats have been folded down for 17 years and are still flawless. The passenger seat has rarely been used and is also excellent--a little fading, but nothing much. But MY SEAT is a mess, lol! I hate the idea of all new "closely matching" seat covers for the all the seats. I'd love to find original fabric to recover my seat only.
The t-top headliner fabric is falling off. The headliners I've found online seem rather, um, cheap and tacky, lol. But I haven't seen them in person, so I really don't know. I'd like to find a nice quality headliner.
The only other thing is the console--it's a bit warped. But that doesn't seem too difficult to find.
Aside from that, the interior is still close to "like new" shape.
And I'm always looking for performance mechanical parts, too. So I'm always up for anything.

I tried an uphostery shop near home, and the guy gives me this attitude and says something like, "1987? You crazy?" lol
But thanks. I tried that for the headliners, and found the same ones that I'd already found online. I wasn't looking for uphostery, though, so I didn't notice if any was there.

Try year one. www.yearone.com. They make everything for everything. I got a huge firebird catalog from them with parts for every gen. I think they had most 3rd gen interior parts except new seats, I think they got a fiberglass t-top headliner board, hope that helps. Oh yeah, I had to get rid of my 83ho due to severe body rot and the frame started to twist, the doors would not fit good anymore. I guess the body was too weak and I drove it too hard. I got a few pics on my website in my profile.

Cool, thanks. I love catalogs about our cars. But they make me realize who poor I am, lol. I see so much in them that I want!
My Pontiac dealer recommended a shop to me, and the guy found original fabric for me. It's costing me as much as a new car, though, lol. I just couldn't accept any of the "knock-offs." They're not as close as the online dealers lead you to believe-well, to me they aren't. And since all I need to recover is my driver's seat, it had to be original. So I'm pretty happy about it.
He's gonna redo my original headliner, too. But I like the sound of a fiberglass one. I'll have time to think about it though, the fabric is coming from faaaaaaar away, and it won't be here for awhile yet.
I'll checkout your car, too. Thanks again.

Well, i'm proud to consider myself one of TGO's "Stock ****'s" I replaced my upholstery with Hawk's kit, and I'm 100% percent pleased. No it's not 100% exact, but unless your car is SOOO rare, that it has to be perfect, they work just fine. The only person who could tell the difference would be someone who is also in the middle of an upholstery resto project.
...that being said, I totally respect the fact that you want it perfect....just wanted to let you know that there are quality options out there.

Cool. If I needed to redo all my seats, I'd have done what you did, too. I hate paying others to do things to my car, lol.
