Where does this spring go?!

I noticed an insane rattling that just started and I found out it is this big spring in the drivers side cowl. Right by the windshield wipers. It has become detached from something. Where does this attach to? Pics would be good if you got them! Thanks! Eric

A picture of the spring would help us to identify it for you.

If the spring looked like this, then you have a bed spring in your cowl. Not sure how it got there.

If this is not the spring in question, here's what you do:

Look directly at the spring you found....stare at it. That's exactly what it looks like.

Dude...I'm just messin' with ya. I know what you're asking, it's just how you asked it!!

....I have no pics, but my first thought would be a windshield wiper spring....under the actual arm....

Hey Abubaca,

We shouldn't mess with the poor dude like this on the weekend. Anyway, if the spring is about 4 to 5 inches long and about 3/8 inches in diameter. It is one of the springs from the windshield wiper that has popped off.

Possibly check the front of your hood. On the inside of the hood there is a spring that aids in lifting the hood slightly to gain access to the secondary hood release latch. It is roughly 4-5 inches long as well but starts off with a 2 1/2 inch diamter and tapers down to roughly a 1 inch diameter on the opposite end.
