Windshield wiper fluid pump?
When I engage the windshield wiper fluid, I hear the pump whirring but nothing comes from the nozzles. I checked the tanl and the hose, there is wiper fluid and the hose is unobstructed.
Am I looking at having to buy a new pump?

Re: Re: Windshield wiper fluid pump?
When my washer pump went out I could still hear it running, even though it didn't pump washer fluid. They aren't too expensive. Mine was $15 and it took about 10 minutes to replace.
Sometimes if the washers are not used for awhile the pump runs dry from the engine heat. When this happens I just prime it by forceing water into the pump until the washers work again.

I was wondering about that myself. I had never used my washers because I never drive the car in winter. When I tried the washer for the heck of it, I could hear the pump run but nothing happened. I will have to try priming it, makes sense.

Thanks!!
I know the windshield wiper pump has not "worked" in a few years as I know the previous owner. This afternoon I blew into the fluid tube until I saw fluid spry onto the windshield. I started the pump and after a minute both nozzles were spraying the windshield.

I've seen some pumps with the impeller stuck and dry rotted. Running the pump motor just broke the shaft loose from the impeller, so it ran, but couldn't pump. In that case, the pump should be replaced (available at parts stores for a reasonable price).
Glad to hear yours works now though!
