I have a 1984 z/28 that is brown with brown interior,i was wondering about painting it jamacian yellow witch is a GM colour from 1985 i beleive, do you guys think that would go together well?,

Personally, if I had a gold(brown) Camaro I'd keep it that way - if I recall correctly that was the second rarest color (the light yellow being the first)

Anyway, I finished painting my '92 this last week, its Rally Red Metallic from a Mitsubishi Evo X (Dream car of mine ) I started working on it about 2 years ago, stripped it to metal and went from there. I used PPG Omni basecoat, and their 2021 Clear. The color is awesome, in sunlight its a really bright red (almost reaches pink levels lol) but on overcast days its a dark bronze red -the paint guy said he had to use almost an entire jar of pearl in it. But you guys probably want to see some pictures, huh?

My old Camaro, Matrix Tangerine Orange over Sparkle Metallic, PPG D894 clear, 3 coats, sanded and added two more coats then cut and buffed.



My old mans '83 Z First time around the color is Blueberry Candy over silver but I was very unhappy with the outcome.

That combined with it fading extremely fast (even with more than adequate waxing) we decided to redo it completely different.

Me and my dad are murdering it though, then the louvers are going to be solid aqua flake then the three stripes on the bottom are going to be a turquoise instead of red. My dad wants to make the spoiler flake too, or follow the spoiler down so then the whole back is flake. Yes? No? Suggestions?

There is no code for it and theres many ways to spray it. You can change the base color or you can add more coats which will darken the color. It all part of the magic of candies.

Here is what I did though, Matrix Tangerine Orange ( four coats) over Sparkle Metallic, PPG D894 clear

The blue third gen is a candy color too, notice the silver I layed down first. I did the same for my Tangerine Camaro but I dont have any pics of it in the silver.

We started nothing and got this. It is a Martin Senour paint from there hot rod chips. Orange metallic I found looking at AMC Big Bad orange and just compairing chips in the sun. My best Friend sprayed it and did all the body work in his garage. He also has a synergy green 84 Trans am which looks just as good if not better. When i Comes to paint and body "He Is The Man!"

what the paint code for the black paint by the headlights and is it the same color of black as the hood louvers, thanks mine is going back to stock color 86 IROC Z Bright Blue its in the paint ready in spring

That car is gorgeous dude. Rims, color, spoiler...awesome. How did you get the LS1 emblems to fit so well in the gfx. Id like to do that with my LT1 emblems. Also does your interior look as good as the outside?

i just used a light grey primer and shot the color. it is a 2 stage paint not like the others that are a 3 stage

Hi all, new to the site and just wanted to post a couple of mine. I did it myself and took around 4 months to complete. Started life as a yellow Iroc 5.7 tpi but had to re paint entire car so decided to change the color as I'm just not into yellow. I went with 2012 inferno orange pearl from ppg. Has 3 coats of 2042 clear. Still in process at this time. A lot more work to go lol. Nice forum everybody

Blue 90 RS

Painted my 1990 RS with a GM color called Medium Cloisonne Metallic.

She has spent two months at a shop in Mooresville, NC called "Will's Cars" and he's done an excellent job for me. Took the car back down to bare metal by soda blasting, then acid etched the whole car. Shaved the antenna and added the cowl induction hood.

The car is being put back together this week (Christmas week, 2013), so Merry Christmas to me! Should be picking it up by the 27th or 28th.

Whats wheels/rims are on your car. My 84 Z28 will be all black, including ground effects. Was looking to paint the ralley wheels that are on the car too, but I like the ones on your car. Was trying to find 17 inch z28 wheels and maybe do that too.

Factory color purple haze metallic.
Car was straightened, sanded, primed, sealed, painted, 3 coats, 3 coats clear. Still needs cut and buffed.
Time: 3 weeks so far (not done yet)
Cost: $900 all in (friend price)
Materials used: dupont, mostly nason line.

This is only a temp paintjob (2-3 yrs). Will be repainting with candy when motor work is done.

Easy to answer. Paint the original color so long as it wasn't red green yellow blue white maroon.
