It's not hard to get in and out of the car at all, i just use it to slide over to the seats. Actually i ordered two latch link systems from G-Force and they sent me one camlock, so the Drivers is a cam lock and the pass is a latch.

okfoz How were you able to get that much of your interior into the picture. I had to size my pictures down to the point you can hardly see anything. Nice setup by the way. Were your seat plastics in pretty good shape before you had your interior done? That was one reason I ditched the 91 seats in favor of the PMD seats. Word to the wise, if anyone goes with the PMD seats on a newer 3rd gen,,, KEEP your back seat. Old back seats are single latch with no seat belts. Being a prepared guy like I am I did not even realize that until I went to install the newly upholstered seats.

My seatbacks are in OK condition, if you fold the seats forward you cna see some old scratches, but sitting upright they look all show & no one ever noticed.

i had mine recovered and opted to eliminate the plastic.
i wanted a pocket behind it done in leather like a honda seat(accord or similar) but they "forgot to" i like the look better without the plastic myself, but a nice pocket on the back would look even better, IMO.

the resistor for the LED is on the wire, under the dash, and it connects to the gauge light power.
That's an option on some thirdgens. My vert has it. The stock lighted mirror has a switch for each side; mine just has one switch to operate both lights and where the second switch is there is a slit with a light that comes on whenever you turn the headlights/parking lights on. It's not an LED but real similar.

I think my interior will be lost on a many people, but that is kind of what I was shooting for. I changed the headliner color to match the stock plastic headliner trim (Black). Also the seats are still Trans Am, but they are from and 83 or 84. Also the map pocket is from an earlier year Trans Am, not sure which one. The doors are close to stock but I deleted the cup holders and eleminated the perforated leather in favor of the pleated stuff using thread and material that matches the seats.

The car is a 91 GTA. I have taken the liberty with the interior and exterior of making it pay homage to many past years of of Trans Ams and Firebirds. I copied the exhaust tips from a 78-79, I painted the hood vents black to mimic ram airs. The sail panel emblems are from a second Gen car not sure which year. And then the interior has had all the above done.

It started purely by accident, but then as I started to change things it became kind of a challenge and fun to see if I could use things that were related to the firebird lineage.

My Doorpanels, Headliner and Dash. All of them I reupholstered with Doeskin Suede. Something that really sets me apart? Probably the insert in the door, The fuschia color in it matches the paint perfectly ( Or rather will match the paint) It also changes colors, Fuschia to gold depending on the light.

What makes it special?

It's mine and no one elses. I remember being little and seeing "Cars with the birds on the hood" I used to make my dad park by them, I didn't care how far away from the store they were. He always did, I would hop out and stand there and stare at them, I was so in love with them, Then there was Smokey and the Bandit ::drools:: the only 2nd gen I would consider buying, the rest I dun like much.

But the moral of the story? 20 some odd years later and I have my very own " Car with the bird on the hood" All I need is a lamborghini and my life will be complete!

Now that's slick! I like the fact that all of those displays look "older" as well, like they came from the same year your car was built!

Thanks.
That's a Dakota Digital dash. I sent in a working instrument panel and they converted it to digital. Actually, they removed ALL the internals and replaced the gauges. The only things original are the bezel, lens and housing. If you don't mind spending the money and the long turnaround time, it's worth it.

I have a lot of cutom stuff with mine. I am designing my door panels so that they can acomodate this strange tendancy for my doors to go up

My custom guages and switches. The upper ones make t feel like a cockpit.

And a better shot of the rear cover. (Last one)

Mine is probably just the massive boxes in the back seat housing my 15" JL and 12" Sony subs.

This pic really sucks but if you look close eonugh you can see part of the box.

well, i did that whole 4th gen dash/console and soon door panel swap thing...and although that's not really considered "original" or "different" anymore around here, i've still never seen another one of them in person, so i'm gonna keep it on the "i'm different" scale.

I have been playing arouns with my i9nterior as wlol, tried doing wood trim on dash and console. The problem was getting the wood veneer to stick. It get's cold in my area and the wood veneer (walnut) has bubbled or lifted. I am now trhinking aboutv trying a brushed aluminum trim project inspired by my wife's car (an Audi A4)

What makes mine unique:

- Three kid seats (two 5-point in rear, one booster up front)
- Spongebob rear floor mats.
