New carpet

has anyone here put in aftermarket carpet. I was checking out summit and they had acc and ohio auto carpets. I was wondering if 16 oz is heavy enough or if I should look for thicker? any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

i bought carpet from Classic Industries. and i have been having problems with it becoming discolored. when i take the floor mats out to clean them, the carpet underneath is the color it should be (grey). the rest has been discolored to a blueish green color. i'm not very satisfied with it and am considering writing to Classic Industries about the problem...they probably wont give me my money back , but i want them to know they're carpet sucks *****...

I got ACC carpet. I used the factory jute padding underneath the ACC stuff to make it thicker.

I got mine from Year One (I think that's ACC carpet ) And it's a pretty good fit and quality. I ordered the wrong color though.

so acc is pretty much what everyone has installed? From the sounds of it only a couple of people have had good luck with acc carpets.

Yes, ACC sucks...my brother had it and it turned green within 2 monts--twice. Lighter too...ACC is sold by most retailers unfortunately.

Many thirdgens purchased these days probably already have ACC in them.

Is camaromotorsport still around? I've heard great things about their carpet...

I just bought NIFTY carpet. its pre molded and seems to be pretty thick. it is as thick as the sample that acc sent me. it came with the insulation for 120 for the pass compartment.

Nifty carpet=****

You'll see once you go to install it. Doesn't cover the entire passenger area, just what is visible.

I bought the nifty, installed it, hated it, then got the ACC and love it. ACC is also a denser carpet and it has more padding on it.

I have a feeling when you say Nifty Carpets= **** you mean Nifty Carpets= CRAP four stars seems a little high

I bought a Nifty front carpet from a guy on here for fairly cheap... Really I am happy only b/c it is alot better then what i had in there.
As for installation, I agree it only covers what you can see, i was a little dissapointed with that. As well as when cutting it to fit around the shifter/ center console area it was hard b/c the insulation seemed like it was randomly placed... so i cut through half installation... EXPECT alot of trimming if you are going to use this carpet... I couldent beat the price though.
Good Luck
Dennis

sounds like you weren't happy with it either. Is A1 the manufacturer or do they just sell someone else's?

It's amazing ot me that it's so hard to find good carpet. I think ACC is DECENT at best....definitely not the same quality as stock carpet.

I've used ohio auto mat before on my mazda and was pleased with the results. I switched from tan to black and never had any problems with it.
