Do Hood Blister Inserts Come Out?

I got some blisters off ebay and the insert had been painted. Well as i sand the paint off the little holes still are body color. So i was wondering if they came out so that i could take somthing and get the paint out. Or does anyone have an idea of how to get the paint out. And the last thing... could someone please post a pic of what the inserts are supposed to look like so i know what im going for? thanks -Matt

What do you mean by inserts...? Aircraft stripper is the best for plastic parts. Try a little on the underside to make sure it dosent eat it. I used some on a bumper cover and the paint just sloughed right off cleanly.

IDK if they come out, but if you use aircraft stripper you should be able to get the paint out of the holes cleanly. Try using a q-tip once it has softened... Hope that helps.

If your talking the 91-92 inserts they are attached via adhesive. To boot their made out of some soft type metal and will bend up pretty bad when trying to take them out. I've seen people rip those out and replace them with a sweet **** looking carbon fiber insert. Theres a company that sells them precut for a replacement and are adhesive backed as well.

Hey thanks man, I had thought about that to and i just wasn't sure about it. I was hopeing that it was removable so i could paint the blisters and then instal them again. Any other ideas to get the paint off? Im just trying to get a few ideas. At the moment the air craft stripper is out of budget lol.

Last time I bought Talstrip IV it was like 49.95.. It's usually cheaper in the states, too.

Re: Do Hood Blister Inserts Come Out?

those inserts have to be removed for any good quality painting, they will not be reuseable, the driver side is discontinued from gm, the pass i think is still available but they were both 50 dollars a piece.
