My repair at an attempt to break into my iroc

So after work today I came out to find my lock on my car mangled and a chunk taken out from under the lock. It seemed as though they tried to use a screwdriver to get in. Fortunatly this is the only damage that was done and the other side was fine. I will replace it to though when i get a chance.

These unfortunately were my only set of third gen locks, however i had fourth gen locks in my counsel for whatever reason and decided to make those fit.

So first thing i noticed was that the lock lined up perfect as if it were made to be there. Another thing i liked was also that they are painted black from the factor so no more ugly chipping when painted.
I reused the gasket that came with the lock and used the fourth gen lock holder. The third gen one slided in from the side, however as you can see in the picture the fourth gen lock went in from either the top of bottom.

I also had to swap over the back assembly from third gen lock to fourth gen which was very simple. Then i reassembled it and here is the result....

Sorry for the negative experience, but on a positive note, you've potentially helped thousands of others here, should someone need to know how to replace a lock cylinder.

Was a real amatuer that tried to break into your car. A professional could get in within a few seconds with the right tools with no damage. Great work fixing your car. Hopefully you catch the touch holes that did that.

Good thing they didn't realize just how easy it is to break into these cars, or they would have gotten in.

I've used my wallet & walking cane to get in & only tore the edge of the window tint by doing so.

I agree i need to start locking my ttops to! Lol. If the metal wasnt caved in on the bottom of the lock cylinder hole i wouldnt be pissed. But now i have that stupid hole there which im not sure if im going to have to repaint the door... again. Unless i can blend it or even use a liitle bit of body puddy and kinda touch it up.
I didnt really make this thread to bitch about what happened really, just that its a nice upgrade imo.
