No one seems to want to answer this question. I jsut want to put a 4th gen dash and console in my car, and maybe the door panels if i have time. How much would I look to spend at a junkyard? What about getting it all to fit properly? CLUE ME IN BABY

From what I understand, the dash and console fit right in, so do the seats. The door panels fit but take a little bit of mod. I think your biggest chore will be finding an interior in a junkyard. Good luck on your switch.

 

Hmmm, i can just put the dash right in? Not too hard? Wow I'm sure I could find a junkyard (living in and near a million ******* places) with a few totalled 4th gens

If you find any junkyards with 4th gens in them let me know? I basically live in SW Michigan but there isn't much around here.

 

from what i've heard the only thing thats 'easy' is the seats. the dash does not just bolt up, the doors need major mods to work, and the console is a pain in the butt. when i was first planning the interior of my project z28, i wanted to do a 4th gen interior swap but just heard so much bad stuff that I decided to go with the K1 interior kit instead. its a little (alot) more expensive but i think it looks better.

but hey i'll tell you what, if you really want the 4th gen interior, I say go for it!! when alot of people say you cant do something and then you do it and it looks good, you will be that much happier with it!!

Im raising the dead...I refuse to believe that there is basically no information to share on this swap. I believe at least 3 people on this board have done the swap. Lets share some info!

I can't believe that anyone would want to replace the dash anyhow.

The big round dials of the older cars are awesome, last thing I would want is the Japanese looking guages on the 4th Gens. Just my honest opinion. Now seats I can understand

WRONG WRONG AND MORE WRONG, the dash fits, period. It does not bolt right up. You need to drill new holes and what not. Second you've gotta do mods for your AC vents to work properly, then you've got all the **** with wiring the new gauges and the A/C controls.. did ya think bought that??

Someone on here has done this and i had his link for the longest time, I'll post it. Its a major hassle though.

 

you're looking for 72buickgsx. Yes it fits, yes, it bolts up. But it is very much so a hack job. Some of the mounting points aren't quite right. You'll have to splice the wiring for the lights and gauges. You'll need a fourth gen heaterbox to get the vents to work. The door panels require trimmimg and custom mounting points. You already know about the seats and the console. To be honest, it's just as much work as any dash swap. Swapping always requires massive amounts of time and things you didn't realize you'd need. hack job........enough said. i can be done, much like anything else. the real question is how much are you willing to spend money and time wise? will you be satisified when it's not a clean look like the original?

if it's not a problem, go for it.

i'd like to see it.
