door latch plastic?

does anyone know if the plastic piece that covers the latch and makes contact with the striker can be replaced or does the whole latch need to be replaced? have a small rattle and the plastic is worn , resulting in the metal to metal. thanks

Re: door latch plastic?

most the time you can get the heat shrink tubing on without removing the striker.
and just use the heat gun to get it tight. you can get it in DK blue/red/white/black

Re: door latch plastic?

James: I tried your trick years ago. I sourced those back seat plastic GM striker covers and I couldn't get it on at all. Maybe I didn't do it right back then (was probably in 08-09). Any tips on how to get it on?

The rear seat striker and the door striker are the same size. I simply cut the plastic and pushed it on. No issues or headaches that I recall.

Re: door latch plastic?

Which part of the plastic did you cut off? The large round part?
