Hood Struts for fiberglass hood-Help
I've had a VFN cowl hood on my car after I put a procharger in my car a couple of years ago. The struts that I had for my steel hood were too strong for my fiberglass hood. I was lucky enough to come across some old struts off a buick riviera, but those are now too weak to hold my fiberglass hood. Does anyone know or have any recommendations on what would work for my fiberglass hood?

Auto Zone handles the struts for Fiber Glass hoods.

This link shows the strut specifically for fiberglass hoods: (for 83 Camaro w/fiberglass hood) Aftermarket hoods may be a crapshoot.

Re: Hood Struts for fiberglass hood-Help
Just installed a pair of FCS struts #84134 from Rock Auto for $6 each. Not too strong but just right on my aftermarket fiberglass hood. With the old worn struts I had to jiggle the hood to get one side to lift otherwise it felt like the fiberglass was cracking from the strain.

Re: Hood Struts for fiberglass hood-Help
If anyone else comes across this, I used the 83 Camaro fiberglass hood struts from Rock Auto, and they ended up not being quite enough for my Hawk's pro-touring style hood. It must be a little more weight then some other fiberglass hoods. So I swapped one strut out with a standard strength one and now all is well, though I'm not totally happy with having two different ones on there. But it did solve the issue.
