Rear hatch glass to Panel seal..?

Just removed my rear hatch as part of my repaint and plan to separate the glass from the rear panel due to a small leak. What do I use and where can I get the stuff or the seal that goes in there?

Thanks!

Pretty sure you can use the search feature to find previous threads about adjusting the panel. Seems there's scans of the service manual posted too. I want to say window urethane is the sealer/adhesive used.

Re: Rear hatch glass to Panel seal..?

Hatch adjustment is closely related to re-gluing the glass to panel. I didn't read that post that closely, but did find the relevant information...

b. Front sealing strip (part number 20328200 or equivalent, Fig. 6, item 1).
c. Butyl adhesive strip (5/16" square, 3M part number 08631 or equivalent) next to sealing strip (Fig. 6, item 2). Seal holes in panel where glass molding screws were installed using above butyl.
d. Apply black primer (from kit) to panel (Fig.9). Allow to air dry for five minutes.
e. Apply urethane (part number 9636067 or equivalent) to area of panel primed in above step. Smooth urethane with a flat-bladed tool. If new panel is to be installed, also apply to forward outer drain holes (Fig. 6, item 4).
4. Install panel to glass.

You didn't. However the info you're looking for has been posted previously in threads about adjusting the panel, and I was telling you that's where you should be looking.

Mark everything so you install in same position.

Used piano wire or razor wire. You thread it through, wrap each end around a stick or peg to grip in your hand. Then slowly work back and forth. Also use weatherstripping solvent as a lubricant.
As always, patience is the key.

That is great advice for a windshield. I didn't find that necessary when disassembling two hatches. Once the panel was unbolted, the gooey adhesive slowly gave up just from the (surprisingly heavy!) weight of the decklid. Add a razor scraper to remove the goo, and that is removal.

OK, misunderstood you guys. I thought it unbolt and goes back in the same place. Didn't realize it has to be aligned. My bad..

Took the windshield out today. What a nightmare. That adhesive is tough stuff. I hope the hatch adhesive isn't that tough...
