1985 IROC wheels on an 85 Sport Coupe
I have a 1985 Camaro Sport Coupe with an LG4 305 CI motor, F41 suspension, and 14" Rally Wheels. I acquired a set of restored 16x8 IROC 5 spoke wheels from a 1985 IROC that I would like to use on my car. Before I go and spend more money on tires, I 'm trying to find out if these will fit my car. I was once told that the 1985 IROC had different lower control arms and that the front IROC wheels will not fit on a non IROC car. Also, I have drum brakes on the rears and believe I may need a spacer there.
I did test fit the wheel (no tire) on the front and it cleared the outer ball joint. It looked like it has enough clearance when I turn the wheel from stop to stop, but without the tire it's hard to tell. I also added a 1/8" spacer which of course added more clearance, but again, hard to tell. I'm wondering if the F41 option would make any difference. Not sure but it's all I could think of since it looks like the wheel fits.
Is there anyone who could offer some advice or info on this?

The F41 package was basically shocks, sway bar, and badges in cars '85 and earlier if I remember correctly. After '85 it was pretty much standard on most cars. I don't see any reason why a set of Iroc rims will not fit on your car.
The main fitment issue with those wheels is that they are front rear specific and if you run the fronts on the back it will make the tire stick out. Your rear drums shouldn't make any difference since my '86 IROC had rear drums too.
From the factory those rims would have come with 245/50/16" tires. I have seen and bought iroc and gta rims that have been ran on S10s, Regals, Monte Carlos of the same era and none of them had fitment issues.

Re: 1985 IROC wheels on an 85 Sport Coupe
I was test fitting the wheel marked front. I had a friend who has since moved out of state that had an 85 Z28 with 15" wheels. He went to 16" IROCs but only had them on the rear. He had said the fronts wouldn't fit and was still using the 15's up front. I never got the whole story and have lost touch since. Could there be clearance issues when the car corners or leans hard to one side?

There could be, but I have never had a clearance issue and I have put GTA and Iroc wheels on a Z28. However I have never had them on a SC or berlinetta, because I have never owned one. Hopefully someone can chime in that has dealt with this issue.

I got my hands on an 82-85 parts catalog. The only difference I can see are the Stops. The catalog lists different part numbers (LH & RH) for the 16 inch wheel vs all others. But this part is not included in the illustration. Where exactly is it? The catalog lists a Bumper and a Stop as separate parts. The Bumper is the same part for all cars, and is mounted to the control arm. It's number 26 in the illustration. The Stop is only in the alphabetical listing section of the catalog with different part numbers.

#26 is the bump stop, and it's in your photo, just under the spring.
I think the part is long discontinued from the General. Hawks has them for like $100 if you want to spend that much.
As I mentioned before, I've never changed them out. I'm running the same rims on my '89 RS now, with the original bump stops. Again, no issues.

Re: 1985 IROC wheels on an 85 Sport Coupe
But this is my confusion. The Bump Stop in the parts catalog is listed as just the Bumper (#26), part no. 459023. It's the same for all cars. Another part listed as just the Stop (which is not pictured) is part no. 14019309 (LH) and 14019310 (RH) for the 16" wheels and 14089487 (LH) and 14089488 (RH) for all others.
Here's a shot of the alphabetical listing. 6.176 corresponds to #26 in the illustration, but 6.177 is not listed.

Plug those numbers into a search engine. You will get all sorts of hits. Like THIS that shows what the STOP is.

Thanks! Now I see it. That part is on the rear facing side of the control arm and is riveted to it. The bumper is on the front and is for bottoming out (makes contact with the frame).
