89 GTA, wing is currently installed and painted but I've never been happy with the way it was installed. The body shop that originally installed it used screws in place of the 3 clips required on each side and their not holding well so it lifts off the hatch and leaves a noticeable gap, especially on the passenger side. This was all done before I bought the car.

I have it in a new body shop and the owner's willing to work with me on making it better. We discussed using epoxy to cement the screws into the aftermarket wing so they will not move or give way.

Has anyone used these before? I'd prefer they were metal clips given the application but they might hold up depending on the material used. I really hate the idea of using screws. Looking for feedback from anyone that has used these and/or other things people have done to anchor down the rear wing on the sides.

Those will NOT work with aftermarket fiberglass spoilers. Those are the stock style clips that are used with OE spoiler. All of the aftermarket spoilers I have had used screws or a "U" style clip that wraps around the glass.

Hawks aftermarket wraparound spoiler only requires 2 Clips,1 for each side and they supply them. The shop that installed mine followed Hawks installation directions and my wing is just fine. Now I know a few members installed theirs with the screws and they just slipped into the groves were those OE Clips should go. Maybe your screws are not down far enough.

I agree with Manta. To get it tighter to the glass you will need to run the screws in a bit more but do it in increments.

You might need the help of a friend to press down as it's slipped into the slots. This should fix your issue.

@mantaguy do you have a link to those instructions from Hawks?

I agree. I think that either the screws aren’t in far enough or they pulled out of the spoiler material under tension coupled with road vibrations etc... I suspect it’s the latter so we may go the epoxy route once we know what depth works best.

I don't have the instructions handy,but if you look at this pic.it's from regularguys TA


You can see the little shinny clip that's where their installed,the clip is screwed to the wing and the clip wraps around the glass frame like this.This pic is from my TA.


and that's all there is to the clips,just 2,1 for each side.

Body shop had no problem with it. Just tightened down the screws. I'll post pics.
