Rollbar?Lightbar?
Yes me too. I would be scared to roll the thing over and crush my head. Look at the german 2 seat convertables they have them and alot of times they are intagrading into the car very nice so the normal person would not know what it was. (I would not put lights on it tho....*******!!!!!) LOL

I am interested as well. I am scared to roll the thing over, crushing my head. Look at the German 2-seat convertibles: they have roll bars, often integrated into the car so that they would not even be identifiable to the normal person. (I would not put lights on it, though, as that would be *******!!!!!)LOL

Just so you don't look like a ******* in the future

Its damn near impossible to roll a third gen, but then again there is always that chance. Someone always wins the lottery dispite the odds......
I've seen a picture of someone on this board with one, can't recall whom.

95% of those bars that you see are purely asthetic.. They'd fold over before they would ever protect you in a rollover.
AFAIK, there isn't an aftermarket manufacturer that makes a bar for thirdgens.

I think it was mercedes who was making a roll bar that would flip up. It worked like an airbag, it would only deploy when in a wreck.
As far as rolling over your car, I would be willing to take any of our cars (f-body) at 70 or 100 mph and crank the wheel to go into a spin. I would bet MONEY that it would not flip (unless you removed the sway bars). The only time a car will usually roll is when the tire catches something like a curb, a seam in the road etc.
Back in the 60's, when my dad worked for GM as an engeneer, he got to see some of the roll tests, they were doing just that, 70mph and turn the car sideways. And thats in big older Buicks, they did not roll...
A convertible has even a lower center of gravity than that of a hardtop, so your chances even decrease more that a rollover would be possible.
"Monkeys fall out of trees," would be my final stance on the issue though.

Ever since I saw the one that guy made on the blue car that was in Super Chevy that looks a lot like Blue502's car right down to the steering wheel, I've thought about making one for mine. Just haven't decided whether to use rectangular tubing, or round tubing..Do you mean you're gonna make a rollbar that's actually functional, or just a bar for looks? I mean either would be fine..

The plan is to make it of roll-cage tubing (1-3/4", .134 wall). I was going to design it be bolt-in or weld-in (car owners option). Also have an optional HMSL mounted in the center of the bar. I'm still about 1.27 seconds away from being required to have it at the track. Lon

I'd like to have on too. I like how they look... Im not all that worried about flippin her. If I were to make one, I would use boxed tubing, to make it look as factory as possible.
When I had my second 88 GTA, I got her into a spin, went PARALLEL up a curb, and hit a tree. How the car didnt flip, I have no friggin idea. Both drivers side wheels hit the curb at the same time, but didnt flip. Heres a pic of the car just b4 i got it junked.
Someone upstairs was lookin out for me I guess!
