Re: Brake upgrades and wheel fitment

Thanks 91CC.
So - 12" PBR's will fit on the rear behind 16" GTA crosslaced rear wheels.
And 13" C4's will fit on the front behind 16" GTA crosslaced front wheels.

I know different wheels have issues and just want to confirm since I don't want to give up my 16" GTA wheels.

Re: Brake upgrades and wheel fitment

I stand corrected the 13's don't fit the crosslace but will fit the formula wheel I have. I guess that leaves you with the 1LE brakes or the 12" C4's up front.

Looking to do the rears right now and the fronts later down the road.
Thanks for getting back.

Question about fitment.... how will the various brake upgrades fit with the stock spares? I was looking at LS1 rear and either LS1 or C5 fronts

Read through this entire thread, and have searched other threads on this board. But most of them seem to refer to aftermarket reproduction wheels and not the original 4th gen 17" SS (ZR1 lookalikes). The closest answer I've found is the above quoted post.

Anyone know for sure if the C5 front brake setup will fit under a set of factory 4th gen SS (zr1 style) wheels?

Would like to pull the trigger but don't want to spend all this $$$ and end up with brakes that don't fit under the wheels I have.

Just about read every thread that comes up when searching the terms "C5" and "Brakes" on this forum.

LS1 FRONT BRAKES CLEAR with a small 1/8 inch spacer.

I am doing the same as you.

Have a low mileage car so I believe I will opt for the 1LE

Re: Brake upgrades and wheel fitment

Hello guys, I'm looking to see if anyone has fit C6 Z06 14" 6pos brakes underneath Devino adana DV430 18x8.5 wheels? I tend to think the diameter will be ok, it's the back spacing that I'm concerned with. Does anyone have a measurement from the face of the hub to the outside of the caliper (the part closest to the wheel)? Thanks in advance for your guys help. Oh, and this is bolting up on my 87 Iroc, or so I hope.

Will the rear LT1 brakes fit under the firebird 20 slot 15" wheels? And are LT1 and 1LE brakes the same thing?

I think the issue here is gonna be the 15" part. Unless I'm mistaken, 16s to clear ls1, 17s to clear c5, 18s to clear c6

For the ls1 beakes, They should fit fine top to bottom, and I beleive bs as well since They would have the same bs as 4th gen wheels which clear on a 3rd gen... I don't think they will clear c5 top to bottom. I beleive u need 17s for them

No. From a pure radial point of view the LS1 will fit SOME 15's and the other will fit SOME 16's. The catch is the back of spoke to caliper clearance.

Re: Brake upgrades and wheel fitment

Will the LT1 rear disc setup work with 15" Weld racing prostars? (see pic) Rear tire size is 275/50/15 just as an FYI.

Looking at 12" rotor setup from Flynbye performance and just buying the hardware and brackets first then piecing my setup together as money comes in... http://www.flynbye.com/catalog/i182.html

Please let me know as I'm looking to buy soon.

** on another note what other pieces would I need to purchase? Obviously brake lines/ parking brake lines but what else...

Re: Brake upgrades and wheel fitment

Does anyone know if any of the bear brake systems will fit on the stock five spoke aluminum rims on the IROC Z Z28 Camaros? I am pretty sure the smaller sizes will, but what about the larger sizes. Example 13" rotor for the front.

Re: Brake upgrades and wheel fitment

Does anyone know if front Weld RT-S S71 17" wheels will fit over the C5 brake conversion for our cars from BigBrakeUpgrade? I'm LS swapping my 239/244 cam'd LS into my 89 Firebird and I really need the stopping power from the C5 conversion and I'm planning on running 17"x7" Weld RT-S S71 wheels on the front and me and my friends have been wondering if this combo will work cuz I've been told not many wheels fit the C5 conversion... Thanks in advance for any answers

Re: Brake upgrades and wheel fitment

Hello,
Does the baer 12" Rear SS4 Brake System with Park Brake fits behind a 15 inch Bassett wheel?
I'm looking for steel wheel that fit this brake kit.

Re: Brake upgrades and wheel fitment

I will start off by saying the 6th Gen Camaro SS front brakes with the 13.6 inch rotors will fit inside the 17 inch CTW wheels. There is about a half an inch of caliper to barrel and spoke clearance using the BIGBRAKEUPGRADE kit from Scott. This is also using pads that do not have the counter weights that protrude past the caliper. They may fit with the counter weights but it would likely be close and I would recommend just going with the pads without the counterweights.

This kit generally recommends an 18 inch rim and while doing my research I could not find anyone that had done this setup with a CTW wheel so Scott was very helpful in providing the dimensions for the 5th Gen and 6th Gen brakes to determine that on paper they would fit and once I put them on I was able to determine that there is a minimum of a half in of clearance on barrel and spoke clearance.

I have pictures as well to show the clearance.

This is very helpful, I was hoping to fit 17's with 6th gen or similar brakes and this is the exact info needed. I hope the wheels are still available!

Wheels: OE Wheels replica C7 Z06 17x9.5
Brakes: C6 Z51

Using 2” spacers with BBU brackets there’s about 1/4” gap between the wheel and the top of the caliper. Just enough clearance to accommodate balance weights as needed.

Does anyone know if the 1987 16 inch Formula wheels will fit LS1 brakes?

When people refer to Formula rims,. i think they refer to the newer 88 plus concave ones with the big center caps, but im wondering about these older wheels
