rear axle brake lines

I was replacing the rear calipers in my '85 Z28. the brake line was frozen into the caliper so I could not get it off the caliper. in the process of trying to get it off it broke.

My question is that are there a rubber axle line available, or do need to try to find a metal lines? I'm going to do them both.

I was on classic industries and they do not have 1985 w/ disk brakes listed. will other brake lines work?

Re: rear axle brake lines

You could use either, but if you use a rubber line you just have to attach it at more points then the hard steel line. But you will most likely have to get a rubber line made special for what you are doing. Have you tried measuring the length of the line and getting a steel line from your local auto parts store?

IIRC, on the 85 with disc brakes, the driver's side line should be a metal line that directly attaches to the caliper (while the pass side line is a rubber flex). Try the following companies for what you need:

http://www.classictube.com/

I'd purchased a set since the car is 20+ years old.

Re: rear axle brake lines

Go with Fine Lines, time is money and they will bolt right in, no issue messing with the old lines.
