84 Disc Brakes Rear T-Fitting Question
Hi, I have an 84 TA and i cant seem to find a replacement for the rear brake T-fitting, im guessing this is probably a common part but im having trouble finding it. Im talking about the piece that attaches to the rear axel where the brake line from the front comes in and then it splits it to the rear left and rear right calipers. Also what should the line sizes be? The line going in seems to be 1/4" Does anyone have a part number for that piece? Sorry if this is a really simple thing, and thank you for your time.

Re: 84 Disc Brakes Rear T-Fitting Question
It's actually a rubber hose with a T-Block on it. If it wasn't rubber, the line would break as the axle moves up and down.
I believe this is the correct part.

I think I may still have this laying around somewhere...

Re: 84 Disc Brakes Rear T-Fitting Question
Iunno... I had to buy 2 sets to outfit my car (83 car SAE, 90 something rear metric) and that one is left over. Probably 18 yrs old or more.

Went outside and looked. Still got it after all these years. It'll be the SAE one, whatever size that is; your 84 might have that, might have the metric one. Hard to say since that was the changeover year.

Re: 84 Disc Brakes Rear T-Fitting Question
The steel line will be either SAE or metric; ¼" (6.35mm) vs 6mm I do believe. Easy enough to measure. The nut, similarly, is either an imperial or a metric size. Although some of those could be pretty close; as you know, a 9/16" is almost indistinguishable from a 14mm for example, or 7/16" and 11mm are also real close.
This leftover rear one I have is almost certainly SAE. I was putting a 90 some-odd rear in my 83 car. I had to buy 2 sets, 1 SAE and 1 metric. I used the SAE fronts and the metric rears - got about the last 6" or so of the steel line off the donor car, cut the line off the donor car at the same spot, flared em both, used a flare union. Used the metric rear hose and the PBR hoses from the metric set, and the SAE front hoses. Seems like somebody bought the front metric lines maybe 10 - 15 yrs ago. This one has just been sitting around. It's still in that package. I'd say I did all this in around 2000 or 01.
Anyway, yeah, I'd sell it.

I will get under my car with my caliper and take some measurements of the nuts, the OD of the lines, and the nut threads.

Re: 84 Disc Brakes Rear T-Fitting Question
So I squeezed under the car last night. It was so much easier 20+ years ago.
And OMG the stench of that old gasoline! My nose was right by the UFO valve.
I left the paper with the measurements on the table. But from memory,
on the inlet end I measured the line going in - OD = .240, across threads = .440, hex of nut = .560
and the lines at the tee end - OD = .185, across threads = .375, hex of nut = .440.
So it looks like all of my lines and fittings are SAE. Inlet hose side has 1/4" line with 9/16 hex,
and the lines that connect to the tee are 3/16" with 7/16 hex.
Would you agree Sofa? Send a PM with a price for the Earls hose and paypal info please.
