Does removing the firewall padding require shimming the booster
When removing the firewall padding between the brake pedal hanger assembly and firewall is the thickness enough that it requires the booster or master cylinder to be spaced a similar amount as technically it changes the rod position. Is the change enough that it would keep the brakes partially engaged or is there enough air space it wont matter.

No. The padding shouldn't be in between, but none the less it doesn't require any spacing.

Trim the pad around all the parts if needed. Use stock as template if you still have it.

This is on the Morrison Cook car. When I pulled the booster and pedal hangers from the firewall there was the firewall padding between the pedal hanger and firewall. I know on the old cars we use adjustable brake rods to put the needed air space but wasnt sure on a 3rd Gen.

The space there is insignificant, the brake pedal will likely be a couple of mm closer to you. If you think about it, your adding or removing material between the pedal mount and firewall and the swing of the pedal will compensate. What ever the leverage ratio is will determine the movement of the pedal. Every car I've pulled apart over the years has material sandwiched in there. Now my car doesn't have that material but a 4mm machined plate to stiffen the firewall. I'm sure if I measured the pedal distance it would be 1/2 inch closer to the floor but it's insignificant. As far are race car/period correctness, I have no idea. Personally, I'd rather not have it there.
