1988 Iroc for sale in Mobile, Alabama. $5000

I am not focusing on the bad to run you off. I just want to give you an
honest assessment so you will know more about the vehicle and rest
assured I am not hiding anything.

It really doesn't need much for restoration. I have the receipts from
the guy I bought it from. They had the flowmaster and K&N air filters
installed and I believe they had the tie rods replaced. Since I've
owned it, I put new tires on the back. They have about 10k miles on
them. The front tires don't have too much tread life left. I had the
radiator replaced in February 2007 and installed the stereo in
June/July of 2007.

Most of the car is original equipment. It has a
cheap three spoke steering wheel that I don't really like. I don't have
the factory steering wheel. The dash pad is in really good shape. It is
almost perfect, except for a small cut on it when the windshield was
replaced. When I bought it, the kid's father didn't know that the
windshield was cracked pretty bad, so he had it replaced for me. I
bought it from guy in Slidell, LA. They bought it from the original
owner in South Florida, I think. I have put about 11k miles on it in
the 2 1/2 years that I have owned it.

The power windows work fine, but the power lock motor on the passengers
side is weak. A/c blows cold, but could use a little of the old school
freon. It has the power motor in the trunk hatch that pulls the truck
closed so you don't have to slam it. However, the little hydraulic
struts (not sure if that is the right term) that hold the trunk and
hood up, need to be replaced. I have the original bag to hold the
t-tops. The zipper works ok but has teeth missing, so it won't zip all
the way. Turn signal lever is broken, but can be replaced for about
$18.00 if you buy from Ebay. Cruise control works, windshield washer
motor works. It has 4-wheel disc brakes since it has the 350 in it. As
far as I know the engine nor transmission has had any major work on it.

The kid had platinum spark plugs put in it while he owned it.

I had front fenders put on it when I had it painted. They came off
another Camaro. I had it painted by one of these volume paint shops and

it actually looks good. There is some overspray on it, but nothing
awful.

The center console is in pretty good shape. Back seat is in real good
condition, with no tears. Headliner sags. The doors creak when you open
them, but don't sag.

It runs great and doesn't smoke. There is a slow oil leak as can be
expected with a car of this age, but nothing substantial. It may be
valve cover gaskets, I honestly don't know. The transmission and engine
are very strong. Tremendous low end torque. Body does not have any
rust. Tracks and handles well. It is amazing a 1988 designed car can
handle as well as it does. It has the two-toned factory rims on it. I
think they did this for only a couple of years. Also, they didn't make
many this color (medium metallic orange). I think production was around
5k units.

There are a lot of junk 3rd generation Camaros out there, but this isn't one of them. They are getting pretty hard to find. It really is a great car
but I need something a little more practical because I have kids. I
bought it as a toy car and used a Mazda6 as my everyday driver. But I
traded in the Mazda to get my wife a vehicle, which put me driving the
Camaro everyday. I drive it about 100 miles/week.

Oh, it still has the IROC badges on the rocker panels and the trunk,
but not the stripe kit. I had the stripes removed when I had it
painted. It doesn't have the "5.7 Tuned Port Injection" badge on the rear bumper, as it crumbled due to
age and I haven't replaced it.

That's really all that I can think of right now. There may be something
else, I just can't think of it. I will say that I love the car dearly
but can't restore it like I anticipated and need something more
economical.

Re: 1988 Iroc for sale in Mobile, Alabama. $4000

It hit 121k last friday. I typically drive it about 100 miles/week. As of right now it has 121045. I drive it to and from work, 12 miles round trip. Then a few miles here and there during the week. I included a couple more pictures with this post.

Re: 1988 Iroc for sale in Mobile, Alabama. $4000

I am asking this because I don't know what they came with. Is it fuel injected or carb? Is it the 700r4 trans? Are the seat covers on it because the seats are torn? E-mail more pics to bcpower406@gmail.com please.

Re: 1988 Iroc for sale in Mobile, Alabama. $4000

It has the 5.7 liter tuned port injection engine. Yes, it does have the 700r4 transmission. The back seat does not have any tears and is in very good condition. The front passengers seat has a small tear, but some of the cloth has kind of worn down. It is not major. The drivers seat has a substantial tear on the bottom part of the seat on the side towards the door. As far as I know the interior is original. The seats are black trim with kind of a gray and white tweed pattern. If you would like, I can take pictures of the seats with the seat covers lifted up.

Re: 1988 Iroc for sale in Mobile, Alabama. $4000

Crap!!!! The transmission went out in my car yesterday. My mechanic told me how much it would be to rebuild it and I lost a quart of blood when he told me. I am thinking about a used tranny, but the cost is still pretty high. If anyone is still interested with the car "as is" I will very much consider a reduced price.
