Has new starter, alt, all new sensors, new waterpump, belts, radiator.New plugs, rebuilt carb all factory under hood. Interior was in excellent condition all original, dash is nice, all the gauges work power windows and locks. The tilt wheel is solid.Carpet is not perfect but good driver quality. All fluids were changed, new sway bar bushings front and rear, new brakes.
Fresh from the paint booth, new emblems and stickers also new center caps, window felts, door seals ..This is not a show car or 100 point restoration just a cool 80s driver u can not b afraid of driving. I have put 400 miles on it and engine runs super.Any more just text me 740 727 5253

It never would have went back to your garage if I didn't have my 88.

Still wish I would have been at the right point in life to have bought that Nova vert off ya.

I tell ya guys, Lugnut has trophys for cars he has brought back to life. This one may not be at the level of those builds, but it's in better shape than the price reflects IMO. I just don't have the space for 3 toys.

For sure a blast to drive.

Post more photos of the prepaint, records, underside, engine bay, included stripes and wheel center caps, etc, and describe history, and you may get more lookers here. Tell about the maintenance and fluid and tire ages.

Photos photos photos. Folks should see what’s beneath the paint. Desciribe where the hood went.

Show off the details and preservation of a good HO car and people here will talk and spread the word.

Sure a few undercarriage pics would be nice. Otherwise it's pretty accurately described. As he stated, this isn't a factory restoration or a preserved museum piece. It's a driver that has a remaned motor and all maintenance has been brought up to date. I happen to know the car because my brother did the paint work on it and I saw it when it was setting at my bothers shop. So, take it from a 3rd party, the car is very accurately represented here.

I just didn't know he was going to sell it so soon.

Re: 1984 z28 L69 5-speed

I bought the car back in July 2018,hood was changed when I bought it, I looked for the right one and couldn't find one so just went with the 85 hood.
When I got it it had the original pink title from 86 when the second owner bought it,Im the third owner I believe which didn't really mean that much to me.It sat parked in and out of a garage for 20 years before I bought from a guy in Manchester that bought it to flip.He said it had a bad head gasket, which in turn was a cracked block,so I then bought a reman 305 from ATK/Sparten,while out I had the flywheel resurfaced and new clutch installed.I have pics of underside and engine but none yet with new center caps and grohics as its in the garage for winter right now.But I will show what I have.Tires are not great, that will b next on my list if it don't sell. The have plenty of tread but are old

Super solid car. Ive looked at many early cars in the last 3 years, and this one is good. There’s a lot of fun waiting there for someone. Old school muscle car. But yeah, I’d also have to keep the Chevelle (my first car).

Re: 1984 z28 L69 5-speed

GLWS, great looking car - especially for it's age in Ohio no less!! Did it used to have the "5.0 Litre HO" decals on the side GFX and rear bumper?? Or was that done only to the '83 Z28's with the L69? And the original hood would be nice too!! Not bashing this car at all, it's really nice on the pics....I'd love to have that original steering wheel and shifter ****!! Again GLWS!

Re: 1984 z28 L69 5-speed

Will be easy enough to match up an 84 hood and paint should it ever need to happen. Seeing it makes me long for spring, going through the gears, blipping open the secondaries with the tach needle flipping right and the tires struggling for bite. A lot of fun without crossing too far past the line of disorderly conduct.

Re: 1984 z28 L69 5-speed

rear discs? 3.73 rear gears? Compression ratio and cam specs on the reman engine? ATK has been great in my experience, just curious how close it is to actual L69 specs. any underhood pix?

I'm not a serious inquiry at this point, although I am intrigued... The questions I listed will give detail guys like me a better idea of what the car has. Looks like a nice car overall. Glad someone saved it.

NO rear disc, aluminum drum,3:73 open rear They don't really give much specs on the engine on my receipt for it.It does feel quite sporty for a 305 and runs flawless
Should b under hood pix posted

You did a lot of replacement parts, were these parts mostly OEM or was anything added to enhance performance?

Hmmmmmm.....I had some Firehawks in 1991 or 92, and they had the newer style lettering. And I'm pretty positive they were outlined white letters.

Free bump for a sweet looking 84 L69 that deserved to be saved. Wish I had space for a 5th car, I'd make an offer.

Me too! If the price was a bit lower....but I know by looking at it along with the before/after pics that there's been some money put into it. I'm always looking for a HO model that's in almost original condition since I have a LOT of parts for one. It would be neat to have a modded HO along with a survivor one! Again, GLWS!

Man I cant believe this car hasn't sold. Post some pics with the centercaps and stripes installed in the first post.......that might be turning potential buyers away if they look at the pics without reading the description. The car looks great, man. And was super solid before the repaint. GLWS

Re: 1984 z28 L69 5-speed

I think it looks to be a good car myself....and I could nit-pick it more than most others since I have an HO car that I've done a lot of work on! I have an original composite hood in my garage for it, along with an original L69 drive train (except for rear that I sold). I see one difference between his and my '83...his has the hydraulic clutch. One of the very first things I did to mine was get rid of the dual dial 85 MPH speedo....mine was garbage. The engine bay looks pretty darn original and everything looks in order for a HO model. If I had somewhere to park it, I'd be dealing on it!! Again GLWS!!

Re: 1984 z28 L69 5-speed

Thanks again for the comments, and if a few stickers and center caps keep people from buying, than its not the car for them And I could nit pick anybodys car all day, thats not what this cars is about.I was saving another thirdgen and making a nice driver quality car that can b drivien Not a full on restoration I have driven it 1k trouble free miles Is it perfect...no... Is any one perfect, I say not. But its all good with me,I will just drive it and wait for the right person that don't expect a showroom 10k mile car for the money, Maybe one that appreciates what it is, and what has been done so far to save it will come along, till then im enjoying the 80s

So after reading this whole conversation I think the car looks great and represents a great value per buck. I live in Minneapolis if I lived closer I'd likely test drive and buy. Good Luck to lugnut.

Re: 1984 z28 L69 5-speed

I had my GTA listed here, CL and Facebook for 3 months and I didn't get even one serious inquiry the whole time.

I really like the car, and you seem like a real good guy, so I'll publicly share a little feedback on why I think you might not have a buyer yet. I'm not intending to bash or insult, I'm offering candid feedback and my opinion. You can ignore it all if you like.

1. The price is a tad strong for a car like this I think. I've been playing with these cars since the late 90s, I know what it takes to fix one up and I know how much work you've done. The car is very likely worth your asking price from a mechanical standpoint, but the perceived value is still not there on the early cars like this just yet. Low mile creampuff 82-84 cars aren't bringing much more than $8-9k. This car isn't going to attract the collectors because it's not an all original low miles virgin, and the guys that want a thirdgen to play with as a hotrod aren't looking at early carbureted 305 cars when there are zillions of TPI cars out there.
2. The engine unfortunately is a downer for me as well. The original L69 is a good engine with good performance for the time. Crate 305s usually totally suck in the performance department, so a details guy like me wants to know the compression ratio and camshaft specs on this crate engine in order to determine if it truly performs like an L69 or not. If it's low compression and mild cam, then it might as well be an LG4, which no one likes because they offer absolutely no performance what-so-ever. If it's got the same compression ratio and cam profile as an original L69, then kudos to you for picking a good engine and you need to be drawing specific attention to that.
3. One more note on the engine. Most guys looking to buy a car at this price point in this condition, are more concerned with performance than they are originality, so lots of guys are probably wondering why you didn't put a 350 in it. A 350 would still look original, but bring some actual performance to the table which in many cases these cars badly need. Even the lamest 190hp crate 350 makes the same power and more torque than an L69 and would be indistinguishable under the hood when properly installed, which it looks like you did. You get huge props for a proper engine swap that looks good and doesn't make the car look hacked, it just may not be the right engine for a lot of potential buyers.

View my 2011 Ram thread here if you're interested in a trade. I had a 84 Z/28 almost identical to this car when I was in high school. Nice car

If I needed a truck it would make sense,i just need to move on about like you and at 5500 that's ridicules for what has been done to this car.

Re: 1984 z28 L69 5-speed

I think it's a matter of finding the right buyer for the right condition of car.

I can vouch that this car is in great shape, paint looks great, interior is in good shape, and it runs well.

For me, if it's not a TPI t-top car it's not a Thirdgen. However, I see a lot of folks over the years seeking hard tops only as their preference and a load of people that tossed or wanted to toss the TPI for a carb.

I have had really good luck with craigslist and cargurus for moving vehicles fast. 👍

Folks are missing out on a great car if you are looking and passing this one over. Hard to find 5-speeds....

Re: 1984 z28 L69 5-speed

Do you have it listed anywhere else for sale? Facebook is killing web forums. Don't kid yourself about the coverage here, I doubt the car is being seen by as many people as you'd think being listed here. It's not 2001 anymore.

The lack of detailed info on the engine hurts it for some. People can't tell if it's a 145hp LG4 or a 190hp L69.

I've been trying to sell my GTA for nearly a year now and I've had very limited interest. From what I can tell the only thirdgens worth anything are the low mile cream puffs. All the other ones are still not worth much.

Re: 1984 z28 L69 5-speed

I agree on the engine. If it was a rebuilt down to the spec L69 I think it would sell. Thing is we don't know if its an LG4 or an even better engine than the L69. If it was a 350 it would have probably sold. If it were down South it would be sold. Lots of factors I personally think its worth every penny you are asking for it and am surprised its still on the market. Good luck on it if it were closer id definitely be looking hard at it.
