Re: Edmonton and surrounding area members in here
I'd definitely be down, but unfortunately yesterday when I was in the inside lane of a traffic circle at 142nd a flatbed truck cut me off coming in to my lane he did not yield and scrapped up my fender and hood pretty good.
So it's pretty shameful to drive right now. .

Ya, I was pretty pissed. Got a witness though so that's really good. Otherwise I'm sure the cops would take a 40 year old truckers word over some 17 year old high school kid with a dope car.

Re: Edmonton and surrounding area members in here
Martin, representing himself, had a 2:00 pre-trial meeting scheduled today at the court house with me, my lawyer and the judge. Appearantly, Martin called in (at 2:45) saying he "couldn't find any parking down town that took debit card". The defendant was granted 10 days to pay a fine and reschedule the meeting. Failure to comply allows us to proceed with a judgement (?) What a dork. Will post update when available.

Re: Edmonton and surrounding area members in here
K guys. DO NOT ever take your car to shoppers on yellowhead for work. Insurance finally came through for me and got my gta booked in for a new fender and hood. And I am getting a dent fixed and the spoiler repainted. First of all door bushings, a dent, and a spoiler repaint costed me $2800 which is complete bullshit. Second of all my car has been in there since September 8th, and I still don't have it back. The body shop manager neglected to tell me that they had ordered the wrong hood for the car. I had to find that out by going in a few days ago asking where the **** is my car. He didnt notice that it was a "trans am GTA" he thought it was a firebird with a 350. So while they waited for the new hood they just parked my car out back not doing any work whatsoever to her. So just last friday they finally brought her in, and now he told me that i'll be lucky to have my car before halloween. Is there a law or something against this? Should they be giving me a big *** discount. Or do I sit at home and continue to drive my brothers 86 lincoln town car and pretend like im not mad. Cause right now I feel like ****ing this guy up.
Thanks for letting me vent =)

Re: Edmonton and surrounding area members in here
I'm going to have to join this thread... I'm in Bonnyville 3ish hours north but Im always looking for an excuse to drive to edmonton and am probably moving there for school next fall. Cars a metallic blue firebird, It's pretty solid but could use a lot of little things to be mint again especially interior pieces.
Can anyone recommend some good junkyards in edmonton? I know theirs David T's but from what I read on here I should avoid that place at all costs.

Edmonton here also.
Looking at getting some work done on a project car I just bought here (85 Firebird, with a 305 swapped in over the stock V6).
anyone know any decent shops that specialize in 3rd gens?

Re: Edmonton and surrounding area members in here
Been a year since someone from the neighbourhood has been on?
Weather's looking great for a a&w or similar club meet, and cruise. I haven't gotten an email in a while, anyone know what's going on or if there are any plans in the works?
Otherwise, we should definitely be putting something together asap.

Hello, I would just like to let everyone know about Thunder in the Valley drag races
Aug 31-sept 2 is the 8th annual Thunder in the Valley drag races in Drayton Valley,AB at the local airport. I would love to see some 3rd gen turn out! Now last year was acctualy my first year going to the races and I was astounded by the magnatuide of this event! There was such a variety ranging from street cars to jet cars and everything in between!
Friday Night Street Legal - If you run ONLY Friday night -
$30.00. Your vehicle will be teched for safety. You need
a valid Driver's License & a helmet (current IHRA specs).
No one is running other than the Street vehicles on
Friday night.
-Ticket Information
-Weekend Pass - $50
-Friday Night Fire-Up - $10
Saturday:
* *-Adults - $25
* *-Seniors 65+ - $10
* *-Youth 6 to 17 yrs - $10
* *-Children Under 6 - Free
Sunday:
* *-Adults - $20
* *-Seniors 65+ - $10
* *-Youth 6 to 17 yrs - $10
* *-Children Under 6 - Free
As for a place to stay the night Drayton Valley has lots of hotels to stay at and if you'd like to stay a little closer to the action there is a place to park your RVs and even pitch a tent(with facilities)
For more information you can go to they're site
http://www.thunderinthevalleydragrace.ca/default.htm
It's about a 140km (1 1/2hr) drive from Edmonton

I would also like to add that I wont be racing but my grampa may or may not be racing his 87 formula so if you do come look for a bright red 3rd gen with a big silver firebird on the hood!

Re: Edmonton and surrounding area members in here
Does anyone know of any meetups or events that are happening in the Edmonton area in July?

Is this thread still alive? Doesn't seem so.

Re: Edmonton and surrounding area members in here
Well, let's see if we can't get something started.
The season is more or less over I know. That said, I'm moving to Edmonton (Millet actually but that's close enough) at the end of this month and hope to get into a crowd of enthusiasts at some time or another, 3rd genners or otherwise.
I plan to sign up for the JB Power drag racing program at Castrol next year.
Look for this Camaro on a street near you (possibly this fall if the weather doesn't stay so crappy).

Re: Edmonton and surrounding area members in here
I just pulled into town two nights ago. Drove the Camaro 3500 kms across Canada and the states.
I doubt I can keep up with any of you. My combo is pretty modest in comparison. What I am looking forward to is a trip to Castrol this Saturday. Looking for a 12 second time slip to go with my Ontario 12.x last month. Not bad for a car that knocked down over 20 mpg averaging about 70 mph.
Still hoping there are a few weeks of driving weather before I put the car away for the winter. Did a little cruising yesterday. Might hold off today and then try and get a few miles in tomorrow and then a trip to the track.
Nice to hear someone is still kicking around here.
By the way, is the twin turbo you mention Charlie's from AMS engines? I'd been in touch with him ( awhile back) and at some time or another hope to check out his ride.
