Re: Edmonton and surrounding area members in here
I just pulled into town two nights ago. Drove the Camaro 3500 kms across Canada and the states.
I doubt I can keep up with any of you. My combo is pretty modest in comparison. What I am looking forward to is a trip to Castrol this Saturday. Looking for a 12 second time slip to go with my Ontario 12.x last month. Not bad for a car that knocked down over 20 mpg averaging about 70 mph.
Still hoping there are a few weeks of driving weather before I put the car away for the winter. Did a little cruising yesterday. Might hold off today and then try and get a few miles in tomorrow and then a trip to the track.
Nice to hear someone is still kicking around here.
By the way, is the twin turbo you mention Charlie's from AMS engines? I'd been in touch with him ( awhile back) and at some time or another hope to check out his ride.

You are correct.

I'm waiting until the spring or an invite to share a heated shop until I do anything.
Need to build a custom gauge cluster to replace the OEM unit. Might pull the heads and drop them off at AMS Engines (still undecided on that one as the heads still have some life left in them). Lots of tuning and re-tuning to be done.
Really looking forward to next racing season!

Re: Edmonton and surrounding area members in here
If anyone has a lead on a place where I can park the Camaro for a few months this winter ( Feb, Mar, April), I'd happily pay whatever the going rate is. I have a few projects I'd like to get a head start on for next season and my temporary living arrangements don't have the facilites to work on the car in any kind of heated comfort.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

For those of you who are still around, and might be interested. There's a Camaro cruise that goes on over the Fathers Day Weekend.
I've never been, but thinking of going this year. Figured maybe there's some here who may also be as interested. Or maybe some here who went last year.
Anyways, here's the facebook event.

That picture they used is at the dealership I work at. I was busy and without a Camaro last year but this year she'll be tops out cruise time! That's in Rocky Mountain House by the way

Right on. You should come out for the cruise! or even bring your car down to your work for the show.
I'm hoping to make the cruise myself. Providing work picks back up again and I haven't gone broke! lol

Yeah I hear ya there. Usually we're pretty slow this time of year but we've been excessively slow this year. If need be I'll sell the truck before the car lol

A lot of guys meet at a local Timmies Sunday afternoons.
I don't believe there's anything else planned this week.
Keep your eye's peeled on some facebook groups incase something pops up.

Re: Edmonton and surrounding area members in here
I went for the first drive of the season on Saturday. Didn't go far. Just enough to get everything up to temperature and determine whether or not I cooked my transmission last fall.
So far so good.
I'll be out and about today too. I just wish it would rain enough to wash all of the crap off of the roads. It's like driving through a cloud of salt dust half of the time.

Hey!
Who was that on 97th st. southbound around 160th ave on Sunday afternoon (15th)?
I was northbound on 97th st. in my grey Coupe (black hood) when I saw a gray IROC/Z28/RS flash his lights at me as he was waiting to turn left across the intersection.
I should have turned around and tracked him down...

Hey guys, new to the forum, and just picked up a '91 Firebird L03 barn find. Gonna scrap the engine for a Vortec this summer, and need to do a paint job.
Anyone have experience with David Ts, or know where to get T-top seals locally? Also, maybe we should keep a runnng junkyard watch going, just keep each other updated on what's in the local self pull 'yards.

David T's is EXTREMELY expensive! You buy new parts online, and with the exchange rate and shipping, it's still half the price that David wants to sell a used part for.

Re: Edmonton and surrounding area members in here
Okay, I had assumed that would be the case. I'm going out to buck's auto wrecker tomorrow morning, if any of you guys are looking for anything, I'll post what's there. I was there a couple weeks back, and there were 3 third gen camaros and one firebird. I need to grab window scrapers/seals and a panhard bar/track bar as it looks like somebody hooked a winch to mine at some point.

Re: Edmonton and surrounding area members in here
And when I had my 90 GTA he didn't even have glass lenses for the fog lamps, you would think a 'super center' would have anything you need. Also, there's a nice 92 GTA there, just over 100 000 kms, green on tan, 5.7, asking $22 000. I just about sh*t myself.
Anyways... good luck on the hunting. The auto wreckers around here just crushed their 3rd gens due to lack of interest in parts from them.

Re: Edmonton and surrounding area members in here
Too bad. I've just relocated here and the wreckers back home just started a area with nothing but 3rd gens. Maybe eight to a dozen all lined up.

Re: Edmonton and surrounding area members in here
What I had good luck with a while ago was putting an ad on kijiji asking if people had parts or even whole cars kicking around. Within a week I had about 5 cars people were offering up. However, that was a few years ago. If you find a nice little honeypot of 3rd gens be sure to share your secret!

Re: Edmonton and surrounding area members in here
I'm just hunting around for a few little odds and ends. Most of the car is restored: carpet, headliner, new drivetrain and a bunch of speed parts.
What I'd like is another set of IROC rims (single stripe for the front) and a dash pad.
I have a fairly sizeable stash of parts but that's 3500 kms across the country and it'll be a while before I get it all moved here.

Re: Edmonton and surrounding area members in here
I was at Bucks auto wrecker on Saturday, there were two camaros, one v6 and one v8, but both pretty picked over. The V8 was a t top, but the interior was completely stripped. The t top seals were mostly comprised of silicon bathtub sealant. I'm just going to get into the habit of ordering online.

Re: Edmonton and surrounding area members in here
Pretty much the only way I get parts. I wish our dollar was a little stronger against the US buck though. 25 points is a little much but even with shipping, it's still usually a better deal to order from Summit as opposed to buying locally.
Case in point.
Mickey Thompson ET Street, LT 28 x 11.50R16, Radial, R2
Local tire warehouse in Edmonton: $816 a pair tax in.
Delivered from Summit to my door $732 pair. That includes shipping, duty and tax (GST) plus a 25% premium on the dollar .
The local distributor says it's a one month wait. Summit would have them here in a week.

Family. My kids are here. And their kids.
I was out here in the 80s for a few years and have moved back from Ontario (Barrie area).

Hey anybody in Edmonton or the surrounding area.
I'm looking for a single electric fan for my Camaro. Mine fried the other day and I need a replacement.
Figured I'd try here before I hit the wrecking yards.

Anybody in the Edmonton/Leduc area know of a shop that'll do an out of province vehicle inspection? I've checked the list on the Gov. of Alberta website but I'm looking for some place that'll offer a more "personal" level of service instead of a Canadian Tire or a dealership.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Edmonton and surrounding area members in here
I've got a 1989 K1500, 383, 700r4, TPI with port mod EBL in at Lightspeed in Red Deer being tuned. I anticipate it to be 95% with a few things to polish up including a minor tip in bog he says he can't seem to rid of, maybe cold starts, and I want to make sure lean cruise and DFCO is set up properly. Maybe a VE learn on their tune. They are more into newer gen PCMs and I don't tune enough to really get educated. I'll work with Rob R. but EBL is not well represented here.

Looking for a recommendation for a tire shop. I have new BFG Comp IIs and repainted IROC rims.
Would like a shop that takes care to clean the rim beads properly (old tires are still mounted) and knows how to properly install a metal valve stem (so it doesn't leak!).

Anyone?
Canadian Tire says they'll handle the rims with care (that's where the best deal was found on these tires). That's all well and good however I used to work at Canadian Tire as many entry level want-to-be mechanics have. That said, the handling is only as good as the handler...

Edmonton drag racers.
I'm looking to get in on a track rental at Castrol Raceway. If someone has a date scheduled and they're looking for another participant, I like to get in on it.
The way my work schedule is, I'm out of town for all of this years test and tunes. I'd really like to try out the new combination.
Thanks in advance.

I've been to David's a couple of times. At one time I was a premium member and the discount took the edge off of some of the prices. Trouble is, a few large ticket items are needed to make the cost of the membership worthwhile.
Some clever person could organize a "group purchase" I suppose.

I'm still looking for a dash pad for the Camaro. Last I spoke with David they were upwards of $500. Not sure I'd pay 500 but with none in stock I'll keep checking periodically anyway.
In the meantime, I'm still trying to source a forged 383 shortblock. My attempts to get a hold of Charlie (1986Z28OWNER here at 3rd gen) at AMS Engines haven't been successful. I'm guessing they're really busy.

Re: Edmonton and surrounding area members in here
In as much as I'd like to help and also meet some local 3rd gen enthusiasts, I'm of little help with any of the ECM based problems. I can trouble shoot just about anything else however once it comes to the "black box", I've no experience. That said, I do have a GM Tech 2 scanner however that's of little use to you.
That said, let me know if there's anything I might be able to help you with. At the very least, this will bump your thread to the top and someone might chime in.

Hey Tony,
Right now I am just starting up my business small time to establish a specific market. I will not post any information on my company to avoid any problems with the web site at this time, but I do invite you and anyone else to contact me for club information, or just to get some advise on your car.
I am first and foremost a camaro lover, and would rather get a gathering together for our cars than client's anyday.
Take care,

i drive a 91 Firebird GTA and I have been dealing with major fuel tank pressure issues to the point where the fuel cap almost pops off into my hand when removing it.
After driving for about 30 minutes and come to a red light, the car idles way down to around 300-400 rpms and seems to want to stall. I have to pop it in neutral to prevent it from stalling.
i wonder if you or any of your followers have encountered this, if so what was the fix?
i absolutely love my car but am almost afraid to drive it lately.
