Am i missing something with Alpines new line of amps?

Well... id had my heart set on an MRV-1507 amp, so that i could buy 2 R-drive 12's with the 4 ohm DVC's and run them at 4 0hms mono, supposedly the amp has over 800 watts in that mode (peak, im sure). Well, upon getting a job at the stereo shop here in town, they just told me (i havnt really started yet) that a lot of the V12 series amps got discontinued.

The new "big dog" amp they have is a Class D (i think) mono amplifier. It runs 250 x 1 at 4 ohms, and 500 x 2 at 2 ohms.

Im trying to justfiy how this is better than the 1507. Im thinking its one of two things:

A) Im missing something significant in my analysis, and whatever it is makes the difference here.

B) Alpine pulled a SONY after getting popular, and their lineup just went to ****.

Can any of you higher knowledged ones shed the light for me? Otherwise im stuck with the Orions... There the only other decent brand i can get at cost...

thx,
Admrl

i dont know about their amps, but they made some killer subs recently. the type r is one of the top 5 best subs in its price. i believe the speakers should be right up there. amps seem to have a lot of features, but i'm kind of a minimalist when it comes to bells and whistles on an amp.

See, thats the thing. THeir amps were never really about bells and whistles. They always had the crossovers, the gains, and power. A local guy has the MRV-1507, i know Justin86 likes the older v12's (saw it in the other post), and i believe JPrevost has them too (unless i have them mixed up).

Its just these new ones im curious about....

Re: Am i missing something with Alpines new line of amps?

Since this is resurrected ......My guess is the previous poster was upset with the newer class d mono amps because it may have had less power at the time? Not 100% sure but Class d should be better at everything an a/b does including a smaller size. Actually had a v12 series amp back in the day and now have alpines mono d and both are great.

Re: Am i missing something with Alpines new line of amps?

whats new with you my friend?

right now i have a pair of sony xplod 800 watt amps(i know, blechhh)one came with the car and i saw an identical one for $40 so i picked it up as well.the rest is pioneer/jl audio.

i dont know if you have any ideas,i have a slight /short lived hesitation usually somewhere between 1500/1800 rpm then it takes off like a bat outta hell.i changed my cap,new accell coil and wires last night and it does run better but still has that momentary hesitation.its pissing me off to no end,any thoughts?ideas, anything please....

the only thing i can see visibly that might be causing it is the rubber fuel lines between the hard lines on the frame rail and the mechanical fuel pump(i dont have a fuel pressure gauge hooked up ,YET)the rubber lines almost do a 90 degree turn towards the fuel pump, idk?
