Baffle issues....

I'm installing a custom sub box in my brother's car but the baffle is slightly too big to accomodate the subwoofer that's going in. My question is how can you extend an MDF baffle in a sub box while maintaining an airtight seal? I was thinking about using fiberglass, but I don't know if screwing a subwoofer into the suff is the greatest idea and I don't know if it would provide a very good seal. Any other ideas? Thanks.

No advice?

Gah... don't tell me I'm going to have to resort to twist ties and scotch tape...

ok, i am going to try and help you out, so what your doing is putting (example only, do not correct me on sizes if it does not matter) say a 10" sub in a box ment for a 12" sub, if this is the case, you need to get some MDF and make an adapter. this will be a 12 1/2 inch diamiter piece of MDF like a manhole cover over the entire opening, then cut a ten inch in diamiter hole in that, attatch it to the box with alot of silly-cone sealent and vualla, addapted sub box!

if this sounds like a good idea, but i am not adressing your problem at all that is because i do not know what "baffle" reffers to, so if you could fill me in....

Sort of but not quite. You're right about the baffle, it's the MDF ring that reinforces the area around the sub and where it ges screwed into.

My problem is that I have a 12" sub with a 12" baffle that is (for wahtever reason) slightly too big. The holes on the sub aren't lining up that well with the baffle.. they're too close to the edge.

I'd like to use bondo or fiberglass to extend it, but I don't know if it'll work while maintaining strength and a proper seal.

Tell me about it....

I'm going to take another stab at it sometime this week if I get a chance. Hate putting it in and having to rip it out though :/
