noobie question inside!
hey guys, starting to plan building my first sub box, thought of a stupid question: When carpeting the box, how do you get the carpet edge so clean around sub? Does the sub cover a little bit of carpet for a perfect look or is it just a very nice cut job?
thanks!
thanks!

Normally the sub coveres the carpet, but you can trace around it with a knife if you're really careful. Otherwise, just make sure the actual hole is as tight around the lip as you can get it, and calk it. That's what I did, sounds awesome.

I'd take the box apart so I could show you the inside, but theftproofing being a hassle to get past + lazy = you get the general idea with an outside shot lol.
I even did the exact same thing in my other bird, but there's no grill, and the carpet matches worse lol. Oh, and on that one, the amp is mounted on the TOP lol.

just an idea i've heard of and seen used a few times... cover the entire box and then where the holes are for the subs, cut a big X in the middle and trim off most but not all... leave around an inch or so of carpet and place the sub in there, the jobs i have seen look very good! its not to tough to do just kind of hard to explain.

The carpet will compress and provide an air-tight seal... much better than just mounting the sub directly to the wood.
