Aftermarket speakers in rear speaker panels

After doing some exploring in my Firebird I finally noticed that the cloth panels in the back seats on each side had speakers behind them I'm just wondering if anyone was able to get a pair of 6X9 or at least 4X6's in there without having to mod the speaker holes too much.

Re: Aftermarket speakers in rear speaker panels

should have 6x9s in there from the factory. unless you got some special radio/speaker option.

Re: Aftermarket speakers in rear speaker panels

the factory speaker sizes in the Firebird/Camaro are 4 x 6 in the dash, and 6 x 9 in the rear (underneath the cloth that you found next to the rear seats). If you want some bass without a big bulky box in the way, Q-Logic makes a box for 10's and 12's that fit right in the rear hole of the hatch, although it will eliminate some cargo space in the rear. hope this helps

Re: Aftermarket speakers in rear speaker panels

If you have the standard sound system your speakers are 6x9s in the rear and 4x6s in the front,If you have the Performance Sound System your speakers for the rear will be 4x6s and 51/2 subs and 4x6s front.

Re: Aftermarket speakers in rear speaker panels

I took the cloth off mine and found aftermarket alpine 6X9's that the previous owner installed. That clears everything up, thanks everyone
