Stock radio stays on after ignition key removal

Hi everyone,

I have a stock Delco radio/CD player in my '92 Trans Am and after driving it yesterday the radio did not turn off after removing the ignition key. Has anyone else ever ran into this issue? I did a forum search and did not find anything similar.

Thanks,

Jason

Sounds like your ignition switch is out of adjustment.. I might be wrong but there is a possibility that you need a new one.. You ignition switch is what gives all accessory items power.. you might want to start there..

Indeed. You will likely also have other accesories besides the radio that also still get power with the key out.

There is this one on eBay with a Aux input, in case yours doesn't work out.

Is there a way to make an adjustment on that switch or will it just require replacement? If I can adjust it, where can I find that procedure?

Thanks,

Jason

Re: Stock radio stays on after ignition key removal

There are two hot wires for the radio 1 switches on with the key and other one stays hot all the time. Maybe you switched these wire. the hot all time keeps the memory for favorite stations and such from be forgotten every time the car turns off,.
