Best 12in subs for around $200?

I need 2 12in subs for a Q-logic custom fit camaro box for an 89 Camaro so the box volume is .85cu/ft per sub. They will be run by an Earthquake Thrust 500 amp putting out around 560W RMS bridged. They will be mainly used for rock and alternative. The shop owner recomended JL W6's, are ther any other options?

I don't understand why people keep recomending w6's when there will only be 2 in use. 2 w6's will yield either 6 ohms, 1.5 ohms, or 24 ohms. I don't know of too many amps that will give you the best performance out of any of those loads.

As for the question, any of the following would be a good consideration...

- IDQ 12
- Kicker C12 or Solo 12, however the solos are no the fastest responding subs, their better for loud bass, not tight accurate bass (i.e. more suited to bass heavy music than rock or jazz type music)
- Eclipse 8812

I've heard good about the Infinities and Pioneers as well, but can't say as I've had much experiance with either.

Just about any good name sub is going to perform well in that enclosure size. Just be careful of what load you present to the amp and you should be fine

I used to run 2 10W6s. Bridged, they were running at 1.5 ohms off my Alpine V12 amp and it never had a problem with the load. Used to hammer like mad, but i switched to 1 10" to save space and weight. My friend runs 2 15w6s off a Phoenix Gold amp and it'll rattle your brains out. If your amp can handle a 1.5 ohm bridged load, go for it.

12W6s will cost more then $200 each. Last time i checked, they were like $275, but that was in town here.

Will an Earthquake Thrust 500 amp be able to handle a 2ohm bridged load? It only lists bridged at 560WRMSx1 @4ohm. It will run 275WRMSx2 @2ohm. What do you think it will push the subs at in 2ohm bridged? I plan on putting a big fan on it and it is out in the open. These are actually tested parameters at 12.5Volts from the birth certificate in the box. What class amp is this, A, B, AB, C, D?????

My local guy wants $199 for the 12W6's. They are dual voive coil right? So can I just use one 6ohm voice coil on each sub and wire them in parallel? That would be (1/6omh)+(1/6ohm)=(1/(2/6))ohm and that would give 3ohm total impeadance and would that result in more power than a standard 4ohm load, and would that setup not heat the amp up as much??? If I got something wrong let me know, specifically if you can use only one of the voice coils on each sub???????

Sounds like a good price. Yes, they are DVC with each coil at 6 ohms.
Use this formula. Each voice coil is 6 ohms, so a DVC in parallel will be (6*6)/(6+6) = 36/12 = 3 ohms. Since you will have 2 subs, in series you will have 3+3 = 6 ohms total load. If you wire the subs in parallel, you will have (3*3)/(3+3) = 9/6 = 1.5 ohms total. So if your amp can take it, wire both coils and both subs in parallel. If you later find the amp overheating, wire both coils in parallel and the subs in series. The amp will run cooler, but at a reduced power output.
If I got something wrong let me know, specifically if you can use only one of the voice coils on each sub???????
No! Never use just one on the coils in a DVC sub. Both must be powered.

No, it is a 2channel amp. why do you say it seems to be a four channel amp by those stats?
