trying to decide between 1 or 2 jl 12" w3d4s
Ok I went to a loca car audio place yesterday to find out how much it would cost to get a custom box built for my 12" JL W3-d4 (already have it just not installed) and he told me that they do a freeair setup with just a board custom fit across the back for $100. I have heard nothing but bad things about freeair setups so I was really skeptical about it. Then he tells me that it would cost about $275 for a box for just one of them.
So my options are this:
1. use the setup that I have now w/ 1 JL audio w3 and the alpine mrv-t501 and have an expensive box made
2. buy another w3 and another amp to run both of the subs and do the freeair setup
I know that the second option will cost a lot more but it should also sound so much better
How much would I need to spend to get a decent amp to power those 2 12s? What is everyone's opinion on this freeair setup?
