Barry Grant Rebuild kits vs. Holley Trick kits...

Tonight I rebuilt my new Dominator with a Barry Grant kit I got off ebay. I was impressed. I found the quality to be much better than the Holley kits I've always used in the past on my other carbs. It included new idle screws, check needles, rubber orings instead of cork gaskets, nylon float bowl screw gaskets instead of paper. Much better, and I got it for $20 less.

But this is for a dominator not a 4150 style carb liek I've always used before. Anyone know if the Holley 4500 kits are like this too? Or if the BG 4150 kits are?

Yeah, if anybody has any experience with the 4150 rebuild kits, let me know.
I need to rebuild a 600 CFM mechanical Holley (4776), and I'm looking at different types of rebuild kits. The Barry Grant Master is $20 cheaper than the Holley Rebuild kit.
Also, if anybody could tell me the difference between the two HOLLEY rebuild kits, both listed for 4150's (besides the $52), that would be great.

Let me know how previous rebuild experiences went. I will continue searching.

wow..never thought I'd see this post again. I put it up forever ago.

The difference between the Holley rebuild kit and the trick kit is the quality of the gaskets. The trick kits are worth it...especially if you're gonna be pulling off the bowls for jet changes ever.

Since Holley rebuild kits are abotu $20...and the Trick kits about $30...I'd really like to know where you're seeing BG rebuild kits for $20 less Unless you're talking about a 4500 kit $52 is way wrong.

Thanks for responding, Jester.

I'll give you the prices and part #'s off Summit to make it a little clearer on the pricing.

Barry Grant:

BGI-190004: Model 4150, mechanical secondary, carburetor rebuild kit - $32.95
BGI-195004: Model 4150, mechanical secondary, carburetor MASTER rebuild kit - $62.35

Holley:

HLY-37-1539: 4150/4160/4500 series carburetors, rebuild kit - $82.95
HLY-37-1544: 4150 series, double pump, quick kit - $29.95
HLY-37-485: 4150/4160 series carburetors, rebuild kit - $30.95

Pick one for my application, Jester or anybody. Just to recap, I have a 600cfm Mechanical Secondary (#4776) in need of a rebuild. I would like the most comprehensive kit possible.

The Summit descriptions offer no idea what the difference is between all the kits. Seeing as there's quite a price difference, maybe somebody here can help clear things up.

Thanks lots!

The top one is for 4500 series...those are always steep and you don't need it.

As for the other 2..Summit isn't being real clear with thier descriptions. I think you want the 37-1544 one but I'm not 100% sure. If you have doubt, go to a local parts store...they usually carry them for about the same price. Get the one on the shelf that says Trick kit for 4150 double pumpers. .
