Victor Jr Intake Brake Booster port?

Hey guys what's up? I am running a Victor Jr intake with a speedemon 750 on top. I can find a place to put the hose for my brake booster. There don't seem to be any ports on the carb for it that I can see. I have found two little one for like vacuum advance or something like that. Any help would be awesome.

Thanks

Bill

Re: Victor Jr Intake Brake Booster port?

Drill a hole in the side of the plenum and put a fitting in it.

Do you have a picture of where you drilled the hole?

Re: Victor Jr Intake Brake Booster port?

Just get a 1/4" NPT tap, measure down 1" from the area the carb sits on and center it, then use the drill bit the tap calls for and drill through. Run the tap through it and install a 1/4" NPT barbed fitting and your done.

I drilled and tapped a hole in my 2" spacer and install the 1/4" NPT fitting in there and used silicone when I ran it in to help seal it up...those are about your only two options.

Hey when you say 1/4 inch is that the same size as the one for the vacuum advance? Because on the carb there is two vacuum ports that are the size that the vacuum advance would be. What do you think about using that instead of drilling a whole?

I've never tried it, but I do not believe the booster could "recapture" enough vacuum through that tiny little port to make normal braking safe...it would take to long to build vaccum back up....it's like trying to drink water out of a glass....one with a coffee stirrer straw and the other with a big slurrpie straw...which do you think is gonna fill your mouth faster? kind of the same principal with the vaccum ports.

It's not a big deal at all to drill and tap it, heck, if you have over $13 in the bits needed to accomplish it, I would be very suprised...I think I seen some NPT taps at Menards a few weeks ago for like $6-7 dollars in the smaller sizes.

Re: Victor Jr Intake Brake Booster port?

Right... you need to drill a hole.

The reason there's not already a hole, is that the Vic Jr is a RACING part; intended for use in applications where there's not likely to be enough vacuum to run power brakes anyway.

It doesn't matter where in the plenum you put the hole, as long as it's into the plenum, and it's ¼" NPT so that a normal power brake hose will fit over it.

Re: Victor Jr Intake Brake Booster port?

I will check the carb again, but don't remember seeing one. I am planning on drilling the whole though guys. Thanks for the input.

Re: Victor Jr Intake Brake Booster port?

hope you know to have the intake off the motor if you're going to drill and tap a hole and to clean out all the shavings.

I think you could do it by removing the carb. and dist. stuffing some clean rags in there and vacume it off before you pull the rags out. You might also have to use a 90* drill head to get in there.
